Popcorn?

Postby Jbl22424 » 25 May 2014, 23:23

Does anybody out there eat popcorn with no problems? I miss it and would love to start eating it again but have been afraid. I ate it almost every day for 20 years until this problem so it's been a huge bummer for me!

Hi Jbl,
It's arguably not the best thing because of the husks within the popcorn which when expelled from the body, can be a little rough with a potential to "scrape" the fissure area. On saying that, I also love pop corn but I find myself munching with caution and picking out those husky bits a lot these days!! I do eat small handfuls now and again but these are rarer occasions now. Ah...gone are the days of sitting through a film with a huge box of sugared popcorn!! :)

Have you tried Pirate Booty snacks? They might be a good alternative. I only had 3 or 4 the other day and let them dissolve before I swallowed them. I've been eating mostly the same foods everyday, so even that tiny amount was amazing. I miss my morning granola more than anything! :)

Hi I was given a list of do's, and don'ts from hospital, popcorn along with coarse bran cereals, nuts seedy fruits, and highly seasoned foods. I would give it some time before trying one of the don'ts, I love spicy hot food, but will wait, and not chance on causing a setback.

Hi All - I started eating popcorn again (1 month post-LIS). I don't think it is giving me any trouble. The spicy food however? That's bad news. I'm still eating some of it but it has caused some irritation after a BM. I think I'm going to take it easy on the spicy stuff for awhile.

Pirate booty is pretty good but I love me some good ol' fashioned stove popped popcorn. I missed it sooooo much. Glad to be eating it again.

I stopped eating nuts for awhile but added cashews back in when my fissure was still active and it didn't give me any troubles.
