Fire in the hole :(

Postby RedLight9 » 06 Jul 2014, 12:50

Hello Forum. I am new here.

On Monday, my partner tried to force himself in my backdoor without lubrication. This didnt last long and I quickly stopped it. Everything seemed fine but by Wednesday morning I noticed I was having a lot of anal pain, at the surface and slightly within. I also noticed Wednesday night that I was starting to not feel great. The pain was significantly worse by Thursday, and I definitely didnt feel well by Thursday night. I figurd the anal pain was just mild soreness and would go away quickly. I was more concerned with the incoming fever. By Friday my fever was high, and my anal pain was very bad as well! Even wiping was complete agony. I became a bit concerned that there were sores getting infected so tried the best I could to get the area reasonably clean. My fever hit 102.5F on Friday night, and then broke over night and I was back to normal by Saturday morning

But my anal pain has remained!! I find it will start to feel better for a bit, and then i'll make a bowel movement and it will burn for hours afterwards! The pain used to be more general and not just on the surface. Now it just seems to be on the surface, but it SHARP. Omg. It feels like there are thumbtacks in my butt. Firey thumbtacks. What the hell. The pain seems to be getting sharper too. I'm hoping that its like a canker sore (which for me becomes more sharp and painful right before it disappears) but I'm not sure. I never saw blood which I guess is a plus but the pain is ridiculous.

This is the worst! I have a very high tolerance for pain, and this is not the worst pain i've had, but it is the most unique. And I feel like every bowel movement just reinjures it. Sitting hurts. i cant exercise. I'm scared to eat. I'm very scared to poop. I don't know how long this will last. And there is nobody I dare even mention this to. Which is what brings me here. I plan to post here for the next week or so and chart if it is changing or not. And have an outlet to talk about this nightmare. Ouch :(

If you are in pain you need to see a doctor. Your best bet would be a colorectal specialist. The sooner you get looked at the better. I wish you well.

Thanks for the response! I plan to give it another week and if it hasn't changed then definitely doctor time.

In some parts the pain has gotten sharper, and in other parts the pain has vanished already. So it may be healing im not sure. Few more days should reveal to me for sure if my body is handling it or if doctor intervention is needed. Its nice to know im not the only one out there experiencing this.

Hi RedLight,

Sorry to hear about your discomfort. Apes is right that you need to see a CRS doctor. If you have a tear in your bottom, the sooner you start treatment the better chance you will have to heal. In the mean time you should start using a stool softener like MiraLax as it will help with the BM pain and drink as least 64oz of water a day to get your stool soft.

I have a bunch of metamucil i never use. Think that might help? Or will it just make me poop more (which im trying to avoid).

I feel like going #2 more often would just aggravate it, while less often would give it more time to heal and minimize my pain. I didnt go at all yesterday (Saturday) and didn't feel too much pain. I went this morning (Sunday) and it hurt for like 3 hours before started going down again. But i think Sunday's poop was less horrific than Friday's so hopefully some healing is happening.

Fortunately i eat a lot of fruit/veggie so my stool is naturally fairly soft.

Hi RedLight,

There a lot of people on this board use Metamucil as it puts more fiber in the stool and it can make the stool soft. I like the MiraLax as it retains water in the stool and makes it easier to pass during the BM. You can try different things and find out what works for you. If you have a tear (fissure), you want to keep you BM regular and soft to heal. The best practice is to have a BM at least every 24 hours as longer than 24 hours tends to make the stool harder. And it is best to have no more than 2 BM's a day. With the typical fissure you can have some pain during the BM and some after pain for a few hours and the process will start over again with the next BM, and you may or may not have muscle spasms. Our first response after getting a fissure is not to eat and have less BM's but it does not work to heal a fissure. The reason the doctor visit is to know what you are treating.

Be very observant with the metamucil, many have found it bulks up the stool and makes it harder to pass. I switched from that to benefiber and that worked much better. I also take miralax.

Thanks for the advice!!! What i always liked about metamucil was that it made my BMs very clean and not much wiping needed, which is probably good for AFs. But I will definitely look into Miralax.

The pain was much more tolerable today. More often it was just... uncomfortable... than painful. And today it is taking a new turn, and itching. Weird. However I haven't had a BM today either.... That's what scares me. I was hoping i could get through the day without one, but I know it is coming. This would heal so much more easily if I could just take a week off of digestion! I know once that BM comes, so too will be several hours of pain.... but hopefuly less so than yesterday.

I decided to try applying some chapstick just now. Kinda a weird idea, but I found chapstick has always cured my angular chelitis very rapidly, so I figured maybe it could help for this. Everything else I have tried to apply has caused searing pain, but i've gotten none from the chapstik! It feels pretty good right now too!
