That sounds like a good way to think! My doctor always told me not to be concerned about blood. Could it maybe be just a hemorrhoid even?

Enjoy your vacation!!

A good attitude apes. Hope you're having an awesome break. The salt water will surely be good for the fissure too.

Returned from a great vacation, wildwood crest, water temp 70's great waves and good golf. Still with minor discomfort, but the salt water was wonderful. Not sure if the Botox is still working, almost hope it's not cause I feel good. Hopefully one day I will fully heal. I have change my diet for life, which only means staying away from things I know upset my BMS. Steak actually don't miss it, had one slice of pizza was ok, so in moderation I think m good. Have my one latte in the morning and an occasional glass of wine or two at night. My wife says god doesn't punish just helps you see the light, maybe she is right.

I'm happy you were able to enjoy your vacation! I like your wife's encouragement. It's hard to imagine a positive spin for a fissure when you're in the middle of the ordeal.

Apes can you tell me about nifedipine? Is it another cream? Nitro and botox have both been a failure for me and, like you, I'm looking at diet and other ways to treat besides more surgery. Seeing my CRS Thursday and want to go in prepared to ask about non surgical options.

Nifedipine is combined with lidocaine it is supposed to work similar to nitro without the headache. I believe the lidocaine is supposed to help with the pain/spasm, I did not get any relief when I used it. Since my follow up a couple of weeks ago the doctor has me using it again.
What's going on with you? How long ago did you have Botox and has it been any help in reducing the pain?

Hi Flaneur, you can also try diltiazem, also a cream. Nifedipine and lidocaine didn't help me either. Doesn't mean they won't help you though. I think it's good to know all the options in case any don't work for you.
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

Thanks Apes and Scientist. I hope you're still feeling good, apes? My botox was, I think, about three months ago now. I have a constant pain, like a paper cut or stinging rash feeling at three o'clock. Botox seemed to help for awhile, though I also ate better when I first had it done,or at least, ate less, as I was terrified of the uncontrollable BM urge coming at work. So I was eating far too little all day then having. A decent dinner.
I have my ups and downs with it. All see what the CRS says. Maybe this pain is just healing, maybe it a hem, maybe t's the fissure. I can't afford more botox so will have to look at diet and alternative therapies now. I'm actually concerning if hypnotherapy could help.
