Oral Nifedipine (Procardia) and Oral Diltiazem

Postby ruined_life » 27 Nov 2014, 18:47

Has anyone used Oral Nifedipine (Procardia) and Oral Diltiazem to reduce Anal Resting Pressure? I would like to use Procardia along with Topical Diltiazem to reduce my anal resting pressure. Are these medications prescription only? Are there any bad long term side effects?

Please let me know! I'm taking Robaxin every day to at least try to relax my muscles down there.

They are presciption heart medications and taken orally they are less effective on your butt and the side effects of lower blood pressure and arrryhmias are pronounced. No doctor is going write that script. Might get lucky with valium or musxcle relaxors though.

There have been studies that state that it helps with reducing resting anal pressures, with only side effects such as flushing and minor head aches.

I guess share it with your doctor. The only studies I've read on it say that it is less effective than the topical...with more pronounced systemic side effects.

Why do you want to take them orally? I am sure they would be more effective applied to the anus.
How is your blood pressure generally? If already low, I doubt the dr would go for it.
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!
