Keeping stools soft - suggestions?

Postby Daisy Mac » 10 Apr 2015, 19:19

I don't know what more I can do. I take metamucil twice a day, and that was working really well to keep BM's 'fluffy' but doesn't seem to be working as well anymore. I'm also taking a stool softener that my doc prescribed. My body seems to have gotten too used to it or something because it's not working either. I eat tons of veggies, no fried/processed foods, as much water as I can handle. I'm being so very careful to try and heal this thing, I"m not sure what more I can do. I've literally been eating the same thing every day, because it was working before, but I just can't get my stools as soft as they need to be. Any suggestions?

I am using natural things to keep things moving smoothly

Flax oil, 2 tbsp daily with a 1/4 cup prune juice
Magnesium Citrate 450 mg daily
1 tbsp flax seed
Lots of water all day
Lemon water first thing upon rising in the morning - 1/2 squeezed lemon in 2 cups warm water drink it down on empty stomach
Slippery Elm - it's a natural supplement in the health food store

This combo gives me soft stools and regularity, but what works for me might not work for you. Maybe try it.

Stool softeners from pharmacy are not natural and the body builds resistance to them over time.
