Not enough hours in the day

Postby hurtinend » 21 Apr 2015, 20:04

My current routine:

Wake up 5:45 am, drink 2 large glasses of lemon water
20 minutes of light yoga
Drink morning shake: apples, pear, spinach, flax seed, ginger
Drink green tea
Poop
Sitz bath, down a couple ibuprofen, maybe the odd Tylenol with codeine if the poop hurt
Dress and get my ass to work and Pray pray pray that I can get through the day
Oh I forgot, after sitz bath apply nitro cream - just started this 2 days ago
Ignore the ache and burn, focus on work
Lunch will be some celery with almond butter, and a super grain slice of bread with tuna
Get home, ibuprofen ,sitz bath, more nitro
Do more work, maybe 3 hours, slip in some dinner, maybe steamed veg, chicken, sweet potato
Repeat sitz bath, ibuprofen, nitro cream, maybe a coconut oil suppository
Bit of TV and bed
Rinse and repeat next day

I am so sick of this, will take 9 weeks to get referred to crs. If I need surgery the wait time is 18 months, unless I pay privately

Oh, felt another weird bump down there, who knows what that could be, slap some cream on it

Is there a way to demand a side bag, please don't mock I'm serious I will sign anything.

I'm sorry Hurtinend, I know how depressing it can be to go through all that tedious routine. How you wish you could poo, wipe and go, like the carefree days you used to have. It seems endless. But, it's not endless. You will come through this eventually, even if it does take months. One day at a time. Keep up the routine. It looks like a very good system, and who knows, if you keep it up, maybe it will work and you won't need surgery. If you just started the nitro you won't know yet if it's going to work. You may not see immediate results, but in a couple of weeks you may notice an improvement. The chances are good, especially if your stools are soft.
The worst thing I found was all that water just made me need to pee all the time. I don't have the best bladder control and it was so annoying! But worth it in the long run.
Good luck. Please let us know how the nitro is working for you. It worked for me, and I am rooting for your recovery sans surgery!
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

Thank you, I am grateful for this site, very grateful. I am sorry I know my post is not helpful for others.

I am losing hope, will let you all know how I go with the nitro cream.

Diet - I really wonder about it, the healthier I eat, the worse the fissure gets

Where are you located that it is an 18 month wait? Ouch!

I know what you mean about the bag. I think I'm ready too. I asked my CRS last visit when I just torn open what was healed the last time I saw him and he had nothing to offer. Only does that surgery for extreme cases, like gangarene and such :(

It does look like a very good diet, Hurtinend. Are your stools soft? Are they large? If they are large, maybe you are getting too much fibre. Or maybe there's a nutrient you are not getting. Do you take multivitamins? I must say, that shake sounds as though you are getting a lot of nutrients. I'm just thinking out loud here!
Hopefully the nitro will do it for you. I have a lot of faith in that stuff.

My stools are soft maybe too soft I really don't know the chemistry of poo oh my. I think my butt is tight so my poop is shredded when I go but again I'm not sure. I take lots of pills, all the range of vitamins and minerals, lots of good oil etc... Like I said, the healthier I get the more this damn thing hurts

msimon: I'm in Vancouver where we have the best medical system in the universe or so I'm told. I don't get the long wait, I will investigate that more.

I lived in Vancouver 6 years ago. I had a hemorrhoidectomy done in 2002 by a general surgeon there who did a fine job but I developed chronic pain after (not related to his work just the pain of it all in general). His work was good though. He does have a polarizing personality however. I don't know if he works on fissures...

Can I ask who you have seen or are going to see and when?

Hurtinend.... God... I know just what you mean. I feel like a slave to my routine, but petrified not to keep it going. It's very hard and time consuming to deal with. The memories of getting up, bm, shower, grab a bit of toast with my cuppa on the way out the house for the school run, then work seem long gone. It's now.... Painkiller concoction, fruit and yoghurt ( can no longer face oats ) do as much as I can for kids before school run, come back, bm, soak in bath, carefully dry, lay for a bit until the yanging goes down, creams, get dressed into something loose.... Go about my day in a very restricted way.

Give the new cream a chance. Try not to obsess too much about what you eat, as long as you are taking a stool softener and drinking plenty things should be ok ( I'm not advocating pizza or junk..... Just food you enjoy)

Lots of time..... And compassion to yourself... It won't be like this forever.

It's true I do obsess about everything I ingest, it's a difficult way to live, exhausting really.

Never tried a stool softener, are you referring to Miralax or Docusate?
