Steroids are not advised to heal anal fissures as they can cause thinning of the tissue as well as suppress the healing response.. Did your Doctor prescribe them?

'08-'15 Botox for pelvic floor dysfunction
Nov '14 LIS/sentinel tag removal
Feb '15 Deroofing of recurrent infection from LIS

If you are at last resorts, maybe try estrogen cream. It's been shown to help wound healing in elderly men and women (who lack estrogen). I think it healed me, even though I don't regard myself as elderly (I'm 52 and have not reached menopause yet).
I looked at your posts and see you are quite young so your CRS may not believe it would help. But could be worth a try.

I'm really sorry you are suffering so much.
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

Does it matter that I am male?

This is not the first time I have had a problem healing. I had to stay in hospital over night after my wisdom teeth wouldn't clot! Could this be linked?

Hi Lloyd, honestly I don't know the answer to either question. It could be you have an underlying condition that makes it difficult to heal wounds, and that estrogen wouldn't help. However, I don't think a problem with blood clotting as such, is related to difficulty healing a wound.
In the study of estrogen that I read, both men and women were tested and both benefited from estrogen (but they were elderly....)
In truth, unless your doctor says males should not apply estrogen to the anus, I would give it a try.

I'm not so sure he has a clue on anything!! Lol I have lost trust in all my CRS's as they end up putting me in a worse position than last time.

I feel I need to find a specialist here in the UK to talk about stuff like this. Show them what's worked for you and see how it could benefit me.

Just don't know how to go about finding an expert...

Lloyd31 How are you getting on since your post in April? I do hope you didn't use the steroid suppositories. I have had problems recently with thinned skin. I too am in UK and have seen 3 CRSs over the last year. I too have had head in hands consultations and "bounced" to dermatologist who was confused as to why I was referred to him saying the skin inside in different that the outside. I knew that!! Hope you have found some help.

I changed consultants!

Last week I had an MRI and it revealed that a fistula had caused an abscess behind where my last surgery was!

I am having my 4th surgery to remove the abscess and open the tunnel that has formed. This is filling with waste every time I go to the toilet so this is the reason for the discharge - sterile puss! So no infection!

All sounds great... Let's see where this goes hey!!
