Life changing fissure my diary

Postby Lizinpink » 26 Oct 2017, 06:12

Hi, so my anal fissure has changed my life!

I have had the odd good day, over the last 4 months but have also had some aweful days where I've been bed bound in pain. Those days are less often now, I'm living with my fissure and it's tiring! I never know one day to the next how I'll be.
Things I've tried
Rectogesic GT ointment, I don't get headaches, I'm not sure if this is working but I'll carry on as it has good reviews.
Coconut oil, oral and anal (homemade supposatries)
They work well to lubricator but haven't healed my fissure.
Sitz baths these are the best! They feel like heaven and help healing, everuone with a fissure should do these.
Lavender oil in sitz bath, this was gorgeous but made my butt sting like mad, took a while to figure out it was the lavender oil.
Tumeric, I have used it on my butt, but it dried the tear out making it sore. I do take tumeric tablets now with coconut oil as it needs oil to digest. This has helped lots as I'm not as inflamed down there and is good for health so I'll continue.
Garlic, I cooked everuthing in garlic for anti inflammatory, I found it iterated My fissure.
Stool softener, it's a must! But I found out that too runny hurts, so
I've yet to find my right dose, but I'm experimenting.
Oh and I've even been having healing! Yes I got desperate and I am trying everything!!!
Not sure if it's helping but it's relaxing so that must do something.
I also sometimes take a herbal sleeping tablet with valarium extract in, this helps me relax so I sleep but also my muscles feel more relaxed which include my Spincer muscle, if I'm having a very bad day I take these, I can get up so I just take it as a chill day, stay in bed and relax as much as I can.

I eat soft vegetables, soft fruit, prune juice, whole meal bread and pasta although not too often, sometimes I just need actual food that's not mushy! I'm always hungry, I'm fed up of soft food, I crave pizza and going out for dinner or lunch with friends as I used to. I miss sweet corn, crunchy salads and crusty bread, Takeaways! I miss being able to sit comfortably, I MISS MY OLD LIFE basicly!!!!!

The good bit....
I eat healthier
I get more than my five a day!
I drink more water
I've saved lots of money by not socialising ( I'd rather socialise)
No cakes, takeaway Indian/Chinese
Less alcohol

Today I ordered an infered lamp so that's my next big hope for a cure or at least help the pain.

I want to keep this diary to look back on when I'm healed X so I never take for granted that I'm fissure free, as I believe I will always have to be careful what I eat and look after my bowel health.

Today is an average day, I've had a sitz bath, I have soreness like my butt hole is sore and swollen, inside hurts to sit, It sucks that this is actually an average day, as I am grateful for average days where I am not in bed writhing in agony! The pain can be unreal, But today it's bearable, thank goodness for these days!

So I woke needing a poop due to the lactulose, now in pain. I keep getting where I have a little bit of poo left and it's kind of sitting inside my bum and irritating my fissure. so I'm up and having a warm drink hoping to move it along.

My fissure is on the left side, so I'm wondering if I have something else going on. I won't see anyone until I'm healed a bit about exploring this. Also I have iral thrush for over a year now due to months of antibiotics, this could also be part of the problem. I'm off work all next week so think I'll go to my go and discuss.
Today feels like someone has beaten my bum hole with a baseball bat then poured vinager over the cut, only description I can give. I'm swollen and red also got a deep pain inside along with stinging! And this is still a fairly good day compared to some I've had! Too much lactulose has made my stools runny, my bad!

3am this morning I was in agony. I woke up with so much pain I got up and had a sitz bath, took ibuprofen and put GT ointment on then layed in bed with electric blanket on to keep my bum warm and relax that spincer! It felt like it had gotten really tight and was in spasm. Glad this morning to feel slightly better, I had a BM that was soft but firmed so fingers crossed today will be better!
I went out for lunch and dinner yesterday, chose well and ate less.
I think I have found my dose for lactulose, 30ml at night, I also take dulciease throughout the day, around 5-6. I'll try my infrared lamp today, it's arrived and I'm hoping to have good results or any result I'm totaly worn down but still sure I can beat this !!!

Things that are helping:
Sitz baths after BM and before bed.
Sudocream wgen I'm sore and swollen.
GT ointment had improvement since using regularly.
Electric blanket relaxes me and keeps butt warm after sitz bath.
Tumeric capsules, had less bad days since taking these.
Coconut oil, taken orally and sometimes home made supposatries. Also my oral thrush is going suddenly after a year so I'll stick to this.
Heat pad lavender one heat up in microwave.
Lactulose, 30ml bedtime.
Dolcoease 5-6 a day.
Lots of fluids.
blueberries help BM to be regular and soft.

Two good days where I've been able to go out and live a semi normal life. I'm not pain free I have pain but it's bearable. My main thing is keeping BM soft but firm. The stinging and burning from loose poops leaves me in agony, my spasms are bearable niw, as in I'm not laying in bed writhing in agony. So I'm hopeful I'm healing slowly.
I know it will only take one mistake or one day of not following my things that work for me to go back to being in agony. I finally see a future of getting my life back. Only if I continue on my diet, and do everything im doing. It's taken months to get here. Today I'm in pain with spasms my bum is hurting loads but I'm up and can cope with this amount of pain, still can't believe I never heard of anal fissures and how painful depressing and life changing they are. Unreal pain my hysterectomy was a walk in the park compared to this!!!

Infared light, tried this yesterday and it was nice, a nice warm heat, not sure if it's going to work but I'm going to continue with it. Would of been very relaxing had I not had to hold my bum cheek open to make sure the light got to my actual bum hole! But i believe it will do something to help so adding to my routine.

At work and here all night, this is when I have to be careful as I have no sitz bath and I cant sit atm as it hurts. I'm standing up to use the computer. This is still a good day but these long shifts always end with me in pain. It's gotten worse since this afternoon when I had BM. I usualy have sitz bath. They are all used to it and I'm not shy about my problem. Mainly because I thought it was going to heal in few days, I told peoole omg I've split my bum and it hurts like mad! Little did I know 5 months on I'd still be here!
It's so much easier to cope with this at home.

Hi lp
Yes fissure pain is the worst I've ever had. Mine was caused by liquid BMs due to crohns.
Just a thought and I'm sure you won't need too but have you thought about Botox or LIS as if your still struggling 5 months out then you may need more help to heal.
Have you had your resting pressure tested as if it's high it may be unlikely that you will heal without one of those procedures
I had my AF for 18 months and only LIS helped me get my life back to normal...but I have underlying issues
It's great your writing a diary and it has some great ideas in it
Good luck....look forward to hear about your healing

Hi MPB

Yes I have considered Botox, although it doesn't seem to have consistently good results. My fissure is outside and I can feel it inside too, often the pain radiates down my left buttock to the top of my thigh area. Botox will be my next step if nothing changes. I decided on a diary as I can look back and see how many good and bad days I have. I had no idea what to do until I found this forum, everuthing I'm trying has come from here.
So are you fully recovered? Also did you try Botox first?
I wish I'd kept a diary sooner tbh.
