I really REALLY need help

Postby TooSmallForThis » 16 Apr 2018, 19:04

Hey everyone
I am currently on gabapentin to taper off of Xanax which thankfully now i am off. Now i am in th eprocess of tapering off the gabapentin.

What the doctor did NOT tell me is how constipated I would get from the Gabapentin.
Now I currently have an anal fissure which is the most horrible pain I have ever experienced.
I seriously need help.
Today I felt like my insides were tearing apart through me. And I cried hysterically.
I currently do NOT ever want to pass a stool, which I know logically is not possible. But I have major anxiety and cry when I think about it.
What are people’s experiences with this? My doctor told me to take miralax, because the Metamucil was not working. She also perscribed me hydrocortisone cream to put on when I want to pass a stool to make it easier.
Is this really going to help? What will help?
Also what is the pain process when will it get better and go away?
Any suggestions comments feedback will be so much appreciated. I am suffering :(((

Thanks everyone

Hi I really feel for you as I've been there! Use the hydrocortisone it will help. Take stool softeners as they are a god send.......the last thing you want is 'hard poo'! I found that eating too much fruit & veg etc made me worse ....good luck

I don’t want to jinx myself at all but....
The last few days I have been ok. I want to know if I am healing.
I have been drinking miralax for only two days and putting glycerin suppository in and putting preparation h cream before I go and I swear, something is working. Today I had less pain than yesterday. And both days very very minimal blood.

AM I HEALING?!
I feel like it’s too good to be true.

How long have you had a fissure for? If it's only a couple of weeks or so, you have a very good chance of healing fully. From what I've been told by my doctor, hydrocortisone is useless for fissures because it thins the skin and makes healing difficult. Ask for an ointment that helps increase blood flow like nitroglycerin or nifedipine. You can find more information about these using the forum search.
8/16-12/16: Fissure due to antibiotics
5/17: Botox to sphincter, fissure healed
9/19: Trigger point injections and pudendal nerve block
11/19: Botox to pelvic floor
8/20: Botox to pelvic floor in new location.
On and off in pelvic physical therapy

It’s about 3 weeks now. Of hell :(
Will it fully heal?? I just want to eat normal I hate this!!
I read all of the forum searches like crazy they really help :)
So far the glycerin suppository and preparation h cream are manageable thank goodness. But maybe not so manageable because it’s still no fun and scary

I have another question... if I am taking miralax too how important is it to follow exactly what I am supposed to be eating?
I eat a lot of fiber like only foods with high fiber.
I am literally gassy all the time do other people experience this?
It’s not so much the dairy that I miss, but more smoked meat. I try to look it up but every website is different.
I seriously hate this I don’t see any positive road ahead of me.

Too much fiber is not a good idea because it can cause bulky BMs. Try to find the right balance that doesn't cause so much gas. As long as your BMs are the right consistency and bulk for healing, you can eat what you like while taking miralax.

Thank you so much... I’m nervous also that the gabapentin is just making everything a mess and that my stools will never be soft. They are definitely softer but not how I would assume it should be. It still is sore. It’s better than it was but still sore.
I just don’t know what works anymore.
Do anal fissures actually heal or am I going to have to deal with this forever?

Hi TooSmallForThis I just wanted to say I'm feeling the exact same way as you.. It's been just over 3 weeks for me too (which is apparently not even long compared to all these other people posting). Yesterday was the first day I actually felt human, I went outside, I felt positive and had some hope. Today - back to lying down in pain all day. I feel completely miserable and have no idea what to do. I'm trying all the tips I can find and I'm just terrified this is going to be never ending. The stress is not helping matters (I've recently been off work for stress and anxiety so I'm a mess as it is). I just want you to know there's someone else here feeling the same hopeless way
