Help with hemorrhoid relief.

Postby mike1971 » 23 Aug 2018, 13:56

I'm just healing from my fistulotomy surgery 3 months post op and now I feel a stubborn hemorrhoid that has developed.

Feels like a firm round tender bulge about the size of a pencil eraser head.

Feels like it runs from the anal canal just outside the opening.

It'a sore and tender all day long ocassionally stinging and itchy and makes walking and sitting uncomfortable.

At 47 I guess this is when most people start experiencing symptoms but this is the worst I've ever felt :(

I've read and been told these go away or just settle down but how long can it take?

Any tips and suggestions that can help please?

Thank you.

Trying mostly Prep H ointment 2 or 3 times a day. Also a little witch hazel astringent dabbed on a soft gauze and applied to the area for a few minutes each day.

Trying to get adequate fiber and water but not overdoing it.

I don't think I have a problem with constipation and don't strain.

Haven't done any sitz baths.... not sure if they are helpful.

Well after a week the pain and itching isn't so bad but that small tender lump is still there :verysad:

It sounds like it could be a tag. They're common after almost any anal surgery and my CRS told me that mine would be there for good. It is tender after movements, but I can live with this small issue, because I'm so glad to no longer have a fissure or massive internal roids.

Thank you Cha.

I don't know much difference but to me I think it's an external hemorrhoid.

Do tags get swollen and tender? I think I red they do.

I hope this eventually settles down. I'm not in a lot of pain bur it's tender and sore and sometimes makes walking and sitting uncomfortable.

I've never looked at the colour, but they do swell and become tender.

Yes this feels more like a swollen tender vein that runs into my rectum just under my skin. I've seen tags before and they look like excess skin which I don't bieve this is.

Thank you Cha. I'll continue applying the ointment and witch hazel. I also have tea tree oil but haven't tried that yet.......

OK to apply coconut oil?

Hi mike1971, I am experiencing the same thing you are describing in your post. Every so often I can feel a small pea size like ball bulging out of my anal canal/anus opening. Can feel it especially when I have gas or pressure down there. I’m wondering if yours ever went away or has it gotten bigger? I have a small anal tag that also swells up along with it. Contemplating having both tag and prolapse hemorrhoid? removed but worried more surgery will bring on more hemorrhoids or complications. Interested to know if anything has improved with yours and perhaps just took some time to settle down. Thanks.
