Katie if your taking movicol but still retearing what's your plan? Like how are you going to avoid retearing since the movicol isn't stopping the retears?

I didn’t get any post-op papers. They were sent on to my GP, but I’ll be asking for a copy myself. TBH, I really didn’t get much information as to how to take care of myself. Doctors are all so busy these days. I got my after-care info from this site!

Thanks Katie, it’s reassuring to hear that it takes a year to fully heal. I still have time  I’m unsure as to how to deal with laxatives. Diarrhea burnt my fissure open, but harder stools also cause a problem. I’ve never strained on the toilet, so I suspect diarrhea is more of a problem for me. I’ll keep you updated on my visits to the specialist and GP tomorrow and Saturday.

I’m so glad that we’re here to support each other. I couldn’t imagine going through this alone :thankyou:

As long as I don't have spams like I used to for 12 hours a day and really bad pain I'm happy with just sore days just hoping it will get better as still have 8 months healing to do x

Katie, have you tried reducing your movicol dose so you're not going twice a day? It might just help you get past this stage of being sore so often.

I think the same P&h I've been taking two movicol a day lately and my fissure is more sore probably because itd harder for the muscle to push out soft sticky bm

I think the aim is more formed it's easier for it to be removed, super soft bms are sticky an hard an it's hard for the body parts down there to move it down an out

Katie, I’ve reduced my Movicol to one 10g dose twice a week. It gives my BMs time to form somewhat and I just make sure to not go more than 3 days without taking a laxative. I eat 6-12 prunes every day, as well as taking ground flaxseed, magnesium and probiotics to keep my BMs soft, and I also drink 1.5 litres of water. This regime seems to be working ok for me at the moment. I can completely understand your fear though. Ultimately you have to decide whether the diarrhea that you may get from the laxatives is not as bad as the constipation. I’m equally scared of both, so I try to tightrope walk in the middle.
