I'm feeling totally better again. What a relief.
:stars:
Lesson learned. I just wish I wasn't so fragile down there. I have enough to think about without always worrying about my diet and hydration.
Still, I'm luckier than many. I suppose I had to learn to take care of myself at some point. May as well be now.
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

I think your journey and mine are quite similar. I managed to cure my fissure in August, mining I don't have pain. Although I have an anal irritation all the time ( but after the horrible pain I had I can live with that). Like you I am having a strict diet and water intake. I found that if I don't do it my Fissure starts to "act up". A little sting here, another burn there. So I get terrified to tear it again.
In this moment I don't feel so good because I dared this week to go with my friends to have some wine and tapas. And sure enough the next day my BM was not perfect and for the first time in 4 months I got pain again. It is not as bad as before but is a pain and is telling me my fissure is there more than ever. I am getting quite tired with this. I am finding myself always waking in my tiptoes. How do you manage to cope with your set backs scientist? I see you have a very positive attitude and just keep going. I am only 30 and I think my fissure is killing my social life.

Yes, what you describe is similar for me. I keep going because I have to! I've got two children in school, a full time job and a time-consuming hobby (music and dance). I don't really have a social life! All my socializing is done at work or at the dance.

Also I think that I am not experiencing pain as bad as a lot of people here. Maybe I have a high pain threshold, I don't know.
I'm lucky in that I can sit down without pain. Walking and standing can be bad but I can get relief by sitting.

I still get depressed though. In this latest set-back I started having obsessive thoughts again. I come to this forum for relief.

Hi, thanks FissureHome. I had decided to give myself a year to heal totally before considering other options. What you say confirms that decision. It's just that "in the moment" of a set-back, it's difficult to imagine ever feeling better.
The upside of that is that when I DO feel better, it's wonderful!

Update - still fine most of the time.
Some irritation now and again.
This week I had a bad couple of days because I got the urge to go to the bathroom at a time I couldn't, so I had to clench and hold it in. That was painful even at the time, and then when I did go to the bathroom, my traumatized anus said "nooooo, I don't think so". So I had to wait, and then the stool was a bit dry.........

Urghhh.

Better now though.

I ordered some kefir grains, started to make my own kefir. We will see if some probiotics do any good!

Nitroglycerine, effective.

I'm glad you are feeling better, Fissurehome. I think we are in the same boat indeed. It's kind of comforting in a way, it means we are "normal". I'm trying not to worry, just live my life, live with the discomfort, take care of myself.
You take care of yourself too, Fissurehome.

No, I don't have that, Fissurehome. I used to find it uncomfortable to lie on my back but not any more, and all the pain has been at the anus or in front of it. Sorry, I don't know why your pain is to the back. It could be some kind of referred pain (the frontward pain I had was probably referred pain). Or it could be you are holding a lot of tension back there because you remember the anal pain. But I'm just guessing.
What does your doctor say?
