Does antibiotics like cloxicilin help help cure anal fissures .? any experiences

I don't know. My doctor gave me metronidazole that is supposed to help with inflammation and healing but I can't say that I noticed a difference. I wish I could be of more help.

Any one else have an ideas?

I have no idea but I never EVER found it mentioned in any of 1000 articles that I read about fissures nor any of my 4 CRSs mentioned something like that. I don't see how it can help with fissure unless fissure is infected !

I agree with Fiss, if its not infected then an antibiotic wouldn't help. And, like Lecia I had metronidazole when mine WAS infected and it still didn't help much!

i agree. unless there is an infection, it won't likely help. Flagyl(metronidazole) worked to stop my second infection, but that's only because I caught it the day after it started. I knew what the symptoms were from the one I had the year before. That one was too far gonefor even mega doses of cipro and flagyl to do anything!!!

There will always be the anecdotal incident of one person having their fissure heal while taking some antibiotic, but nowhere in any medical literature that I have read have I seen antibiotics even remotely mentioned.

my pug is taking metronidazole and lactulose. he goes very smooth every day....of course this is to make up for his liver problems, not fissures.
