Benzapril Medication

Postby Guest » 13 Jul 2008, 18:02

I was prescribed Benzapril for my high blood pressure a few months ago. Upon reading up on the med online, it states it works by opening up blood vessels and increasing blood flow. I have stopped taking benzapril when I started the suppositories. Would Benzapril work in assisting me in my anal fissure issue?

not sure.
can you tell us the ingredients of the suppositories?
that way we can break it down....
if you think the suppositories really help you, i would suggest then to melt the suppository down from its bullet shape to a cream and just apply it around the tissue and it will sink in by itself.
this way you don't irritate and harm further the fissure inside.

I am assuming the benzapril (lotensin) is an oral medication in your case? If so, it may help a wee bit, but not enough to notice, in all likelihood.
BP creams for anal fissure are applied locally.
Yes, I agree with Gareth. What kind of suppository is it?
It looks like you are saying you stopped taking your anti-hypertensive medication because you are using Prep-H suppositories? I wouldn't do that!!
I re-read your posts, and you state you get relief from the prep-h suppositories, and you have not been diagnosed with anal fissure. It may be that you do have hemorrhoids and not a fissure???

Sorry, HF, I must have missed the diagnosis. Image
It can't hurt to have your blood vessels dilated, in any case!!

I read long time ago on another forum that one woman healed her fissure by taking Nefidapine in an oral form and also I found couple of medical papers from doctors in Turkey and Greece that treated fissure patients with oral Nef. and had great success. I should start making some kind of med. papers library at my computer so that I can just pull staff when I need it ... Hope this was of some help.
All the best
