Hi there, I just had LIS surgery about 30 hours ago. They said to remove the packing the morning after surgery. It is now the evening and it is too painful for me to pull it out and feels “stuck”

Has anyone else dealt with this or have a solution? I’m worried about leaving it in but the pain of pulling it out is severe.

I suggest you contact your doctor immediately. It may need to be removed in an office visit. Or one option is to take pain medication, wet the packing and then try removing it. Personally I don't think I'd be able to remove it myself.

I just had surgery and went into the next evening with the packing still in unable to remove it. It came out with my first BM. I would still give the office a call and see what they recommend
