Does anyone know why my farts hurt?

Do your farts hurt?

I just farted and it didn’t hurt. Does that mean I am getting better? Should I keep a daily log of my farts with a 0 to 10 pain scale to show my doctor? The soonest appointment he has available isn’t until October.

Does it hurt when you go to the bathroom? Do you see bright red blood when you go to the bathroom? If the answer is no to both of these, then I don't think you have a fissure. But you aren't telling us anything other than you have some discomfort when you fart. You don't say for how long or when it started.

When I fart, it hurts. For example, I just farted and it was about 6 on the pain scale. Typically, it hurts for about 15 minutes or so after I fart. Sometimes it burns after I fart. I have noticed that the more the fart smells the worse it hurts. If my wife can smell it, it’s at least a 5 on the pain scale. If it smells so bad my dog leaves the room, it’s at least an 8 on the pain scale. Any thoughts?

I have nothing I can tell you, I’m sorry. I do not remember any pain associated with farts but honestly it’s been three years and all of that is becoming a distant memory. I would recommend another visit to a colorectal surgeon who can evaluate your concerns.

Thanks for your reply! I do have an appointment with my CRS coming up soon. Fortunately, I’ve been keeping a fart/pain log for the past month. Unfortunately, I’m pretty gassy so it’s almost 364 pages long. I’ll report back here once I know why my farts hurt.
