Anonymon,
Just to add that if you do start suffering with the head rushes from the Nitro and really can't handle them, the other alternative is Diltiazem cream, which I actually used after being unable to cope with the Nitro side effects. It works in the same way and I spent 7 weeks using it. It had a MAJOR effect in assisting the healing of my fissure and like Crackin Up, could not have reached where I am today without it. I'm also in the UK but 100% certain it's available in the US too....Just a thought! x
Chronic Fissure diagnosed December 2011
Healed by Diltiazem around Feb 2013
Anal Fistula followed burst abscess in June 2012
2 internal troublesome piles remain & suspected, but undiagnosed, ongoing Levator Ani type symptoms & flare-ups

Week 12 over. Been healed for 7 weeks now!
My not pushing isn't going so well... I had to have 4 BMs today to get it all out and I still had to push a little! I did reduce my water intake and get up 30 mins earlier which may be to blame.
I've been eating a bit more volume lately though and have to say it's made me feel sluggish and horrible. I actually felt healthier while I was poorly!!
Still not put any weight on though, which is good as I like my new size. :)

LOL! CrackinUp - I like my new size too - from a size 14 to a 10 in the space of a year and had a routine health check recently at my GP surgery to check cholestrol levels, blood pressure, risk of heart-related issues etc and was advised I couldn't be in better health, my BMI was perfect and I'm at very low risk to anything right now. The fissure has had some great benefits too!!! I did get too scrawny at one point but have put a bit of weight back on now but if I stay at this, I'll be more than happy!
We're all going to have not such great days for various reasons but as long as you recognise them and what you might have done differently and then get yourself back on track, these days don't always do any lasting harm.......
Fantastic news that you are doing so well! Really happy for you Image

19 weeks tomorrow since my original tear, been fully healed for almost 3 months now.
I had a flare up last week involving slight sensation near my sentinel pile and skin tag... and pressing the area resulted in a watery discharge.
Obviously I was scared of fistula or abscess possibilities so went immediately back to the CRS. Turns out I have a slight infection behind the skin tag, so have been prescribed antibiotics. So far on day 3 of the 5 day course and symptoms have all but vanished.
I'm a little scared to press the area in case I disturb the healing but so far so good.

Well, good news... either the antibiotics worked or the mucus was IBS.
I suspect IBS as I can trigger it by eating spicy foods. If I eat something really spicy then almost exactly 2 hours later a bit of discharge / mucus comes out. It's not yellow, or bloody streaked and doesn't smell (yes I have gone that far :D).
So panic over... false alarm... I bloody hope so anyway as I'm going on holiday for a week and don't fancy an in-flight rectal explosion !! :-O

Had a weekend of spices and alcohol (but was careful not to dehydrate), and unfortunately my tag has flared up. It's a bit sore to break wind and whilst I had no pain during the first BM today there was a burning / itching sensation afterwards! This is more irritating than anything, I could definitely not describe it as pain compared with the original fissure.
So it seems this thing is going to flare up from time to time depending on how I look after my diet. As annoying as that is, it's probably not a bad thing as it will keep me in check... :)
