Hi all,
Just did some research about fissurectomy that was performed during my LIS without my knowledge. It was definitely not necessary according to all papers that I read, Image , and when it is performed it usually includes removal of a skin tag or is followed by making "anal
flap". So, I have unnecessary , half finished wound to heal. It might need 10 weeks to fully
heal Image ...
I am writing this only to warn prospective LIS-ers, to make sure that their surgeon does not perform procedures that are not agreed on, and ask in advance about fissurectomy. If it happens that it is really necessary, count on longer recovery period regardless of what he /she says. You will have a wound in the place where healing is very hard anyway - that is why you have a chronic fissure to begin with Image
All the best

ah, you got the royal LIS treatment then with a fissurectomy on top!
did the dr. even bother to tell you post-OP; or was this something that you discovered due to continued discomfort later post-OP and confirmed by the CRS?
it is unfortunate that sometimes we sign those papers right before surgery that give the doctor the option of doing something in addition to the procedure if felt necessary.
well i wonder what was removed along with your LIS fissy?

No, my friend, he never found it necessary to inform me about "extra" that he thrown in ! Since I had that unusual swelling on my anus that just didn't want to go away and extra burning and discharge I asked my husband to call him and ask what actually was done during procedure and was anything beside LIS was done
and lo and behold THAN he said that he "shaved " edges of the fissure "since it was chronic". I was so mad, I couldn't believe it and I called right back to ask where and what he cut but than his nurse told me that he is "very busy" so I made app. to see him !!!!
I am mad because there was no chance i the world that my fissure old only 5 months could develop any scar tissue !!!!!! Not to mention that it was completely healed for 2 weeks in between and healed so well that there was no trace of it during exam.
I will know more details after app., but what is done is done - I have to live with extra pain and discomfort for no good reason $$^%%^#@$!!!!
Thanks for asking , Gareth : ) ! Hope you 4 are doing great ...

I still can't get over the fact that he would do that without your consent. That can't be legal and it is definitely unethical. To cause you more pain and suffering than what is needed for your case and to not even tell you that he did it until you asked repeatedly.

What did Dr. Million say? Did you see her a few days ago? How are you feeling down there? Is the swelling going down at all?

My SF CRS said that swelling should go away with time, that I am just 10 days post op. and that she doesn't see anything unusual since He cut fissure too ant that this area just hate to bu cut - period. She did "finger" me which caused some extra irritation , of course, and lidocaine that she mixes with KY when examining burned later like crazy. She said that he was very well known CRS indeed, but more for dealing with hemmies , not LIS- I thought of you than - what of paradox . She also said that my sphincter is still pretty tight - I thought that I was imagining it becoming more toned, but no. He must have been ultra conservative, cutting minimally. That was good regarding incontinence, but dr. M. is worried that it is not loose enough to heal the F. So, yeah - I can already see me going for the second LIS $$^&%^$#@!!! Well, lets hope not !!!! My outside stopped burning - it is now inside that is irritated : ( since the exam. I had some blood and discharge this morning and I can feel little pinch where fissure is and some referred pain on the left side of my anus - usual place where it hurt when I had open fissure. The only difference is that pain is level 1 instead of 9. I guess, I should be happy about that, but I would be the happiest if I had no pain at all : ((.....
Thanks buddy for asking XOXOOOoooooo. Did you get call form your CRS ??? How are you doing ?I hope great : )))))

Oh Fis,
thats terrible, how awful if you have to go in for another op.
I cant believe how all these doctors can get away with screwing our lives up,it makes me so mad.
You would imagine that if they are specialists they would know just how much to cut-its supposed to be a simple operation, goodness knows what would happen if they had to do a difficult operation.
Sorry that you are still in pain, how disheartening. But on the plus side, to be on pain level 1 and only ten days post-op, thats quite good, so fingers crossed, you may heal up with no further op-heres hoping!

Thanks Val XOXOOOO !!!!
That is what I hope for : (. I managed to heal my fissure once without LIS, so maybe I will heal anyway. I will give it at least 3 months to see how it is going. Surgeons are obviously trying to avoid any "bad reputation" regarding incontinence, so their "clean record" is more important than our continued suffering. I now think that that is why he cut my fissure too. He was trying to refresh edges so that they possibly adhere more during healing and surpass pressure that is still somewhat there.
It is just so strange that I felt better first week post op than this second week : (.
It is suppose to be other way around .....
Good luck dear Val - don't think about me and my bad luck, I am sure you will do just great : )))) !!!! You will even get rid of your skin tag !!!! YEAYYYY !!!

I don't think so, dear Val. They cut fissure itself ONLY if it has sines of "chronicity", when they have scar tissue forming and granulation that may interfere with closing. It is usually there after years of not healing, so I don't think they will touch it ! MANY surgeons try to avoid any extra cutting there - taht is why they don't want to touch skin tags if not necessary. If you have any doubts ask your surgeon NOW. And don't sine anything without fully reading it. It is hard to do that because they give you papers when you are already dressed in gown and waiting - so your brain is in the state of panic - like you can concentrate on reading "small print" %$%&^&$%$!!!!
So, just ask beforehand. Sometimes that procedure IS necessary, I just don't think it was at all i my case : (. Oh, well... One day I will heal ...
XOXOoooooo......
