Wishing you all the best for your surgery tomorrow, Andy. Hope everything goes well and that you're not too worried and stressed out about it.
It will soon be over, the worst part is the waiting and worrying!
Good luck!

Thanks Val
You have been so helpful over the last week, i will let you know how it goes.
I hope you are now recovering well?
The Nurse at the Pre-op suggested i take the full week off after, but i am so busy at work, do you think i should take the week or will i be OK to return Thursday? I am office based so no heavy lifting, just sat around all day!!
I just don't know how i am going to feel, but also need to rest at the same time

Hi Andy,
well, my honest opinion is that yes, you would need a week off. At least! Everyone is different of course, and if you are used to the pain of the fissure, then the surgery could be a total immediate relief and you will be up and back to normal in no time.
When I had surgery 3 years ago, I remember going shopping on day 4 afterwards and nearly passing out in The Range! This time, it's day 5 and I'm still laid on the sofa pretty much all day, and feel weak and shaky standing up. That could be the tramadol though!
I honestly couldn't imagine sitting on it all day before a week was out! Or possibly for quite a while after the week!
It's not that it's excruciatingly painful - so don't worry!! It's more because of the tiredness, all the soaking and wound care - and a lot of it, the anxiety about it, it's draining and exhausting.
Once you wake up in recovery you will feel such an overwhelming relief that it's over! Then just deal with it on a day by day basis, keeping the pain at bay and making sure you rest a lot. The days after surgery go so fast, it will soon just be a blurry, hazy memory!

Dont want to be negative here, but for me and andy uts not sure its over. While i hope it is, we have to keep in mind lis might ve next.
Ok, now the good news: the surgery itself is a breeze. Thank God for modern anesthesia and good painkillers :) I almost feel like it's a relaxing day off so far.

I know, I can't understand why they don't just do LIS and get it over with! But let's be positive!! They must have some rates of success with botox,or they wouldn't try it. In the UK, our NHS is free, so they can't be doing it for money.
Let's hope you two are in the statistics that do heal.
Congrats on your surgery - take some pain pills before the local wears off, sometimes it can be a shock as it's all numb afterwards then it wears off and ....bam!
Wishing you a speedy recovery

It's that good? I mean i have almost zero pain so far and it's almost 12 hrs after surgery, i would think the anesthesia has worn off.
But if it really is that good wow, medical discovery of the century! :)

Good luck Andy! I'm on day 4 of recovery and I can tell I'm healing. I had LIS/fissurectomy/banding of internal hemmy's and so far the worse part has been the bowel movements. My advice is that when you feel the urge to go, get a nice hot sitz bath ready, maybe pop a pain killer, then go to town. My sphincter still clenches really tight after a bm and spasms for a while afterwards but the hot bath helps some. I've finally gotten some Valium to help with that so we'll see how the next one goes. Good luck on the surgery!

Good Luck Andy!
Mike,
Please let us know how the valium does? I'm curious as to how well it works for you. I know it gave me great relief after surgery.
