How do I find a good CRS?

Postby faff » 02 Mar 2012, 07:31

I'm located in Sweden, I moved here around 3 months ago and since beginning my new job, my fissure has started acting up.
Or atleast that's what I think it is. I had botox back in the fall of 2011, after having tried 4-5 different ointments which did no good. But the botox did not help either. Instead I did everything I could to not make my fissure worse. I.e. no exercise, keep BMs soft, etc.
But a week or so ago it seems like I had a setback, without me doing anything to provoke it. So after reading a lot of the LIS stories on this board, I am pretty set on getting a LIS. I want my life back, I want to be able to work out, run, eat a steak once in a while and so on.
I've had some pretty bad experiences with doctors before, basicly telling me to "stop whining and live with it" and none of them have actually seen the fissure, they just assume it's there because of the symptoms I describe and since the first doctor assumed it was a fissure, and put it in my file, they all just assume it's that.
In the daytime, it doesn't hurt that much, it's more of an itch. But around 6PM it starts hurting, and once the time is around 9-10PM, it's like there's a hedgehog dancing inside my bum :( The sleep (and probably the lying still for 7-8 hours) makes it better.
How do I go about finding a competent CRS? Can anyone recommend one in Sweden?

I like to go to ratemds.com. not sure if they do sweden though. I would just google around for colorectal surgeons in your area and see if there are any reviews.
I hate doctors like that! Someday they will get their own AF and know what it is like.
Hope you find a path to healing soon,

Hi there,
Just looked through the members and found the one who was on here that I remembered, from Sweden, though she just had Scandinavia on her profile - Bumbutt. You might want to look at her posts.
I also lived in Denmark for many years. As far as I know, I just went to my doctor and he said where to go, which was to a teaching hospital - but this was for hemmies. We paid quite a lot for getting the best in Denmark, and I was in the capital city.
Here is a google link that may help you:
https://www.google.com/#hl=en&output=search&sclient=psy-ab&q=Sweden+colo+rectal+surgeon&pbx=1&oq=Sweden+colo+rectal+surgeon&aq=f&aqi=q-w1&aql=&gs_sm=12&gs_upl=2466l12226l0l14505l33l22l1l0l0l0l1680l4359l7-1.2l5l0&gs_l=hp.12..33i21.2466l12226l0l14505l33l22l1l0l0l0l1680l4359l7-1j2l5l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=c046483b3e0e4ca3&biw=1264&bih=652
I don't know much about Sweden - apart from having gone there a few times - but if you are in Stockholm, you should have lots of choices. Scandinavians are very proud of their medical people, as well they might be!
