Does anyone know if it is safe to use rectogesic over a long period of time? My tube says to use it for 8 weeks but I have gone over that by quite a bit...

I think you should consult a doctor. If it hasn't helped you already, then continuing with this might not be a good idea. I also think that I've read somwhere that with time the nigroglycerin ointment gets less effective as the body gets used to it (it is why the headache problem is usually more of a thing in the beggining of the treatment...)

I’ve been using it since October 2018. They keep prescribing it to me and telling me to use it. I get headaches from it occasionally if i use too much.

I use it on the days that I use Dicolfenac because you should not use dicolfenac suppository while using Diltziam. I use Dicoofenac when I’m really swollen.
