I'm booked in for LIS at last!

Postby SteveR » 03 Feb 2013, 23:22

Hey all
Just wanted to share what I think is good news.
I am booked in for LIS on the 28th Feb. it has taken ages to get here, because totally understandably you need to try everything beforehand - and I have. I've had two types of creams and two ops to have botox.
I have had my fissure now since April 2012 - and I know that if I'm good and eat just fruit and veg I can control the pain to the absolute minimum - but all that does for me is keep myself in a position where I don't aggravate it, but at the same time it doesn't heal. I also found that stopping all other creams and preps also help keep the pain down. Not nice when I have just disturbed it when I have a BM but much better over the long run.
Anyway - I really hope that this will now sort it. I am very very nervous at having what is a permanent op - but it is the only choice for me. I keep saying to myself 28. 28. 28.

Good luck! I feel like I'm on a similar path. Diltiazem didn't work, Nitro doesn't seem to working either. I may need surgery too. Botox is my last option before LIS.

Hi Katie,

If you have a fistula, it is not the same as having LIS. Try looking on the sub forum for fistula surgery, the success stories. It is usually a very simple surgery, and if you put a post on there I am sure you will get some answers. There are two sub forums for fistula 'stories' and I hope they will give you some confidence that this whole trial will soon be over.

Here at links to the sub-forums:
