is swimming ok?

Postby val » 18 Oct 2007, 14:03

is it ok to go swimming with a fissure? Does the chlorine hurt, or maybe help as it kills germs? I don't want to be crawling around a swimming pool in agony!!! :{':

I never noticed any problesm. If anything, the chlorine provided some relief afterwards.

depends on where you are swimming i guess.
i swam lots when i had mine. as long as you shower well and take care of it post-swim, i would think your bum could take it for 30 min to an hour.
enjoy the pool!

Thanks, that's one less thing to worry about when I go away! I think I'll need a huge suitcase just for all the stuff I have to take every day- the flax oil, aloe vera, the wheatgerm oil, baby wipes, painkillers ect. Is it worth it???? It's easier to stay at home.

It is easier to stay at home but it will be good for you to get a change of scenery. I think you will be well armed with what you need to keep things bowel wise the same as at home.
Have a great time!

Thanks! I've booked an off road 4x4 experience with 2 days away for my hubby's birthday in a couple of weeks, I hope to feel a bit better by then as it does lessen a little week by week. Otherwise I'll have to stay in the hotel with my hot water bottle and a good book. Haha!

well just make sure on the off-road experience you don't get into any wild rivers or lakes....after watching that show on animal planet, there are things in the water that wil get into any openings and make a host out of you and your fissure!
i am sure you have already considered this but just in case if you haven't, getting some of those pill/capsule boxes at the store (target, walmart, etc) can help you prepare the number of capsules you need to take with you instead of having to lug around bottles.

I won't be going in the car with him, thank goodness! I'm safely spectating in a nice warm cafe with my son.
Thats a great idea about the boxes, I'll definitely get some of those, thanks!
