LIS and Anoplasty surgery tomorrow

Postby callmecrazy » 13 Jan 2011, 10:18

Hello all, newbie here.
Just wanted to share that I'm getting my surgery tomorrow to heal two fissures that I've been struggling with for years. To say I'm a bit nervous would be an understatement. Image
The hospital just called with my final pre-op interview, and tomorrow morning I go in at 6:45 am. The surgery will actually take place at 9:00 am, and I should be home sometime after noon.
I am planning on updating the forum with my experiences since you can't have enough information. I'm already scared to death about my first BM post-surgery. My motto - Anything that goes in today will be coming out of my Franken-butt tomorrow (or later).
Here's to hoping this is my last battle with my pain in the rear. Image

Call,
Good luck tomorrow and be sure to post the outcome of your surgery (hopefully a good one). Where do you live in Florida? I am leaving in less than a week for Fort Myers Beach. Image

Thanks Cheryl. I'm in Orlando. Are you vacationing or relocating? Personally, I'm through with the heat and am ready to leave and move north. I was born and raised here in Orlando, and I'm ready for something different.
As for tomorrow, I'll definitely update on the whole experience in case anyone else is considering this procedure.

Call,
We are going to vacation for 2 weeks. I guess the grass (or temps) are always greener on the other side. I don't think I could put up with Florida heat in the summer; it's bad enough in Central Illinois!! I know many people from here travel to Disney and really enjoy it. I'm hoping to check out Key West, Sanibel Island, and possibly Naples and Marco Island. Hopefully, the trip will not be a bust!! I put a pic of Fort Myers Beach up on my avie to help me think about warmer weather. It was 1 degree here this am! brrrr
Good luck tomorrow!!

Hey call,
Wishing you all the best tomorrow, I'll be looking forward to hearing your experience as will everyone else, don't worry about the first BM, just let it happen and everything will be fine, I think most of us worried about the first BM but it isn't as bad as what you think, just hop in the bath straight after or if you like do it in the bath (gross I know) but this would make it easier..

Thanks again, everyone, for the well-wishes. I'm thinking it's going to be impossible to sleep tonight. I'm so freaked out. I need to figure out a way to calm down. Image
My current fears - anesthesia (nausea), post-op pain (not sure what to expect), and potential complications (incontinence ).
Fingers crossed. Image

I survived. I am home now and still trying to shake off the anesthesia. That went okay. Apparently I thrash a lot and started panting heavily and trying to not breath as much as they wanted. I had the nurse continually having to tell me to breathe. LOL The stuff we forget when we're under...
As for my posterior, I haven't looked, but my hubby said there are lots of stitches. Thankfully I have a pain pump hooked up and 7 hours after the surgery I still don't feel pain. But if I start to, they gave me percoset and vallium. I am still worried about the first BM, but I suppose I'll cross that bridge when I get there...
For the record, the pain pump is pretty cool. It's basically a fanny pack I wear around my waist with a tube that feeds pain meds to the wound constantly. Additionally, all of the nurses have said how great my surgeon is and that since he started using that pump about 6 months ago, his patients have all had very good results.
I realize its not all going to be roses and puppy dog tails, but so far so go. I'll take it. Will update later.
