Muscle Pressure Release/Spasm? after LIS

Postby vdb324 » 30 Mar 2014, 10:14

After one of my bms following LIS, I noticed that during my sitz bath, it feels as if the muscle is relaxing and releasing pressure. It's strange. It's similar to the AF spasms, but they don't last forever and it comes really quick and really sharp and is gone within 10 seconds (whereas AF fissures for me were dull, achy and lasted for hours).

Has anyone had anything like this after LIS? Part of me is nervous that I still have some pressure built up/tightening of the muscle. However, maybe everything is just swollen up there and the muscle is freaking out from being cut.

My internal sphincter spasmed badly after being cut. It was very obviously that because I could feel the spasm was "shorter" in length compared to before the surgery. It would grip really hard after a BM but release after a hot bath and some time. This went on a couple of weeks for me, but I am slow to heal.

My spasms are quick; about a few seconds long. But they are intense and can happen every so often when I am laying down. I wish I knew why...

It will get better. It's such a sensitive area down there and cutting the muscle injures it and causes inflammation. Remember, only the small portion of the muscle that was severed cannot spasm and the rest of it still can. As the injury heals, the spasms will fade. The first week is the worst. Are you on pain meds?

Thanks. No pain meds, just tylenol since I am pregnant. I have been taking that daily and doing sitz baths after every BM. Its day 3 post op and each day does feel better than the last. I just hope this heals soon. I am just so happy I found this forum. I really feel like I am not alone.
