You can use it before and after BMs both, to help relax the muscles. It has no effect on the period that I know of.
8/16-12/16: Fissure due to antibiotics
5/17: Botox to sphincter, fissure healed
9/19: Trigger point injections and pudendal nerve block
11/19: Botox to pelvic floor
8/20: Botox to pelvic floor in new location.
On and off in pelvic physical therapy

I haven't seen anything from the group about the DoseRite applicator, so will mention it here. I recently purchased from Amazon, and use the syringe with anal applicator tip for my nifedipine/lidocaine formulary ointment. It seems to provide a more consistent application in the desired area, and with less irritation than the "finger" method. Does anyone else have experience with this? Also, are others finding that the nifedipine or nitro cause serious irritation across a large area near the fissure?
Fissure started in May 2017 due to colonoscopy
First 2 doctors prescribed only hydro cortisone
CRS finally diagnosed fissure in August
Nitro and other creams have not helped, may be causing rash
