Overactive bladder

Postby thisunpleasant » 14 May 2013, 18:02

Been drinking a lot more water since fissure nightmare started almost a year ago so obviously that is part of what's going on here, but also noticing a very difficult time holding it in when I have to go, compared to before. Embarrassing , but a few months back had a ten minute wait or so for a bathroom and didnt make it in time. Also wet the bed last night. Curious if this could have something to do with the Nifedipene, or be a symptom of another condition...Never had this issue in the past.
Anyone else experiencing this?

Havent peed myself, but i did have to go pee like every ten minutes when pain is bad. Its muscle spasms that affect all the muscles down there. But night time peeing is a symptom of a bladder infection as well.

I would go get yourself checked out. I agree ... It may be a bladder infection.

Hi, if it helps that was the first symptom I had that sent me to the doctor. I kept getting the urge to pee even when I had just gone. I had urine test after urine test to see if I had an infection and they all came back negative, they did a cath on me twice to make sure I was emptying my bladder and everything came back normal. For me it turned out to be the anal fissure causing the problem. All your pelvic floor muscles are closely related and when my fissure was causing spasms it was causing my bladder muscles to go into spasms too. I would still go and make sure you don't have an infection. If you don't talk to your doctor about pelvic floor disorder. I had my surgery almost 3 weeks ago and am still very swollen and that has caused me to urinate more but as each day passes it gets less and less. Hoped I helped, all the best Suzy.

If there is an infection then you will have a burning sensation and the whole area would be sore. If not, then your pelvic floor is not relaxed. Therefore, sitz bathing is very important. Stop the presecription cream during the day and do sitz bath 30 minutes (three times a day). Breath so that your butt feels the warmth and relaxes the muscles. Sitz bath also cleans the area well. Use epsom salt when you have 10 minutes left to soak (try this after you are sure that hot water is helping) Clean the salt once you are done soaking. Use A&D cream during the day. It has no side effects. Use your prescription cream only in the night because lying down does not allow the cream to travel other places. Keep adding hot water to your sitz bath as and when it turns cold. You will know within a day if this is working or not. Your urgency to pee should go away. If not, you have something else going on. Well, I still feel that you should see a doctor to rule out any serious medical conditions. This kind of self diagnosis is to help you stress less and move on until you see the doctor. Your question on did I experience this too? Well, I did pee a lot. However, there was no pain or discomfort while peeing.

Thanks for all these tips.
I have no burning sensation or pains, just have to go a lot and when the urge comes feel I have to go immediately.
I will try these suggestions. Thanks again

Hi, I have experienced terrible peeing problems too!! I have been under. UroGynae and CRS. They are convinced it is linked, as there is no infection! Sometimes when AFs are playing up I pee lots more. And I drink lots too for stool consistency, so this doesn't help. Ugh. Maybe the spasms can affect the nerves in the bladder. I will ask on my next appointment. Image
