My "sore"did history....

Postby saturnuranus » 01 Mar 2014, 07:38

Hi, I have been suffering with constipation all my life, I have always passed "rabbit droppings" type poo, since a young teenager, I am in my 40s now.

Unless I live on all bran and veg soup for a few days, which of course, that does not last long, then I can have a soft poo. But I love normal food!

I generally have blood on the paper and stabbing pains, 80-90% of the time. I love my veg and do have a healthy diet.

I have been managing with my "white bullets" (anusol suppositories) and baby ointment. And prune juice.

I too, cannot "go" at work as small office with strict client appointments, it would be embarrassing. I wait till I get home or sometimes I have a BM before work.

My life is very stressful, but hey ,so is most peoples.

As mentioned in another post...one iphone photo later to find out what was going on down under, revealed four glorious fissures. :(

the thing is, I have agony on the loo, and when very bad up to half hour after, but other than dreading toilet time, my life is not really affected. Which is why I have never seen a doctor about this.

After seeing a photo of my bum hole I have finally made the doctor appointment!

Lol saturnuranus, I still have difficulty to believe that you have lived with these four fissures for years! (You said 3 in your last post) I have barely managed 3 months with these demons! (How long exactly have you had them? Can you recall?)

Anyway, by what you tell, your fissures might be very superficial to not be affecting your life that much. I say you are one of the very lucky few!!! My fissure is REALLY small thank God (only a .5 mm). But trust me, the agony it causes me is unbelievable. My family actually believes I exaggerate everything that I feel down there. Ha ha ha!

When is your doctor's appointment? Good luck for it :) Keep us updated here! I am so glad you are finally going to get some answers after all these years :)

Hi saturnuranus, Are you sure it's not haemorrhoids and fissure? 4 sounds like a lot. I have both and it's pretty miserable. I am worried that you don't get chance for a poo at work. Is there a shopping centre or large public toilet you can head to nearby? My fissure exists partially from holding in BMs and the poo then hardening up and becoming difficult to pass.

Also, Buttqueen, have you had LIS yet? I am new to this, so don't know people's history yet.

:-)

Hello Jooberry, unfortunately no where near work I could go easily.
I do have four fissures, one looks old and the others look like tears, 1/2 cm is visible on each before they dissapear up the anus, how far they go inside the anus who knows.

There has only been one episode about a month ago, that left me in agony for the whole day. Generally 15 mins after the loo for a BM (once a day) the pain goes and I am ok.

Oh no! I really feel for you, 4 is horrible! Are you taking sitz baths when you get home? We only have a shower, so I had to go and haggle in an Arab market for a giant plastic tub for me to sit in after BMs. I was prepared to say it was for bathing my (imaginary) dog, if asked what it was for but thankfully, the man didn't speak much English! I don't know what I'd do without it though, I've was crying after toilet trips last week but the sitz baths have lessened the pain a bit now. I have also tried to counteract the horrible experiences by blasting overly-happy music from my phone when I go  . I feel actually mental doing it but does actually help! Are you considering surgery yet?

Hi JooBerry! Welcome to the forum honey! No I haven't had surgery yet. Neither do I plan to have it any time sooner :) My AF seems to be healing and my CRS says it is pretty small and get it healed with GTN. Here is my history

Here is my account of the last visit to my CRS

Right now I am feeling a LOT better than what I was 2 months ago. Keeping my fingers crossed :) How are you doing JooBerry?

Mine started due to stress-induced constipation, during a stressful time of my life, over 5 years ago. It healed (sort of) due to GTN ointment and suppositories but I have been regularly plagued with haemorrhoids.
Now, whilst I am working with my husband in the UAE, I have managed to contract stomach ulcers, they were dealt with by taking antibiotics but whilst my immune system was battered, I caught a bug from the kids at school and the diarrhoea played hell with m bum. Now the fissure is red and inflamed and I'm back to the horrendous pains I had years ago, making the toilet visits a nightmare.
Anyway, the job here comes with medical insurance and the surgery doctor I have seen specialises in these kinds of problems. He has recommended that I have THD laser procedure for my haemorrhoids and a laser fissure procedure and it could be happening soon!

I think you are right to stick with medication for now. If it keeps coming back though, don't hang about. This has plagued my life on and off for too long. Do you get headaches with the GTN ointment? It makes me feel woozy and gives me a brief headache.

Oh JooBerry good luck for your surgeries! Keep us updated on what is going on. Hope you heal very soon :)

Yes, I do have surgery in mind if it takes way too long. But mine is an infant (only 4 months old) so I am positive that it would heal without surgery ;) The GTN causes me no headaches thankfully. I had read a lot about GTN causing light-headedness so I was quite suspicious initially that my pharmacy had not made it right lol. Anyway, but it does seem to be working so I am keeping my fingers crossed. Right now my spasms increase 1) when I have more than 2 BMs a day. 2) when I have a large BM. The pain during BMs is 2 on a scale of 10. Otherwise I am doing far better than how I was doing 3 months ago: no problems in sitting, standing, moving around.

Only to add, my constipation problems only occur in pre-period and during period time. I am sure you can relate :)

I sure can relate! I am off caffeine, alcohol, white carbohydrates and am eating a very strict diet at the moment, so am managing to go 2-3 times a day and it's relatively easy (just painful)

I had some bad news this week though. The insurance company rejected the claim for the operation, so it looks like I am back to GTN and suppositories! How long has it been for you now? I remember last time it took me 3-5 weeks to start to get some normality back in my life. Don't want my bum to ruin my husbands 30th birthday next weekend! And we have a holiday booked 2 weeks after that too!

We are appealing but it looks like something I'll have to pay for myself in the future.
