Colonoscopy

Postby Hurtswhenisit » 03 Mar 2014, 20:35

Hi everybody, Tony here. I wanted to ask if anybody thinks my colonoscopy in three weeks will do to my already painful fissure? Could it open it even more, I don't think I can stand anymore pain but I have to get it done. I'm just so freaked out why I've been staining and constipated for so long. Since I've went to the doctors for this thing my life has shattered. I find out I'm ten pounds less than what I normally am, borderline low blood pressure 95/65 and they tell me I have the lungs of a 73 year old. I'm 34!!!!! So far I had a lot of blood work done and everything is normal except white cells slightly elevated. Chest X-ray , bladder and kidney ultrasound done they came back normal too. I also been under a lot of stress past couple years college and new jobs but maybe the most awful diet and recovering drug addict maybe beat me up a little . I don't know anymore. I'm freaking out!!!! My GP even put me on antidepressants for this . I practically broke down in the office. The worst part of all this is the past year I really got my act together and I now have nothing but negative thoughts. It's just not right

Hi Tony,
Please don't panic, I think you will be fine..........I had a colonoscopy soon after I got my fissure. At that time, the fissure was really painful, agony (as you know), but the colonoscopy was fine. It didn't make anything worse. In fact, the cleansing and loose stools were the easiest poops I had since the fissure. The procedure itself was painless, in fact I didn't know anything about it. I woke up, felt fine, a bit woozy but not in pain. I didn't have a general anaesthetic, just a sedative.

Please don't freak out about the colonoscopy. As for your other problems, perhaps some of them will resolve when you start to take care of your diet. Get enough fruit and veg and drinking plenty of water. You can't beat the fissure on junk food and caffeine, you have to take care of yourself. The good side of that is that it benefits your whole body, not just your butt.

A lot of people come here and say they've been under stress. It's a common theme. I think when we are under stress we tend to eat comfort foods. Often that means junk foods. It takes a real effort to deny yourself that and start to treat your body right.

The good news is, everything is normal (except your lungs - do you smoke?). You are basically healthy, so you can beat this thing. Some other people here take antidepressants. If it helps you get through this, take them!

Let us know how you get on. If you need to vent, or ask questions, you can always come here. Search around the forum for diet tips and other tips to heal yourself. Above all, look after yourself.
:smilyhug:
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!
