Post LIS leakage

Postby BarbC » 12 Mar 2014, 14:17

I am not sure that my LIS was much of a success. I had the surgery back in January and have been leaking ever since. The leakage seems to be a clear, tacky fluid and it burns like crazy. I cannot sleep; I am getting about 3 to four hours a night. My night is spent using the toilet, taking sitz baths, applying more Calmoseptine and non-sting barrier (the days are much the same). I try to nap, but the burning is horrible and it keeps me awake. Nothing seems to help, the leakage starts as soon as I am cleaned up again. I have resorted to wearing Depends, but they only prevent the fluid from running down my leg. Has anyone else had this problem? Could it be that too much muscle was removed?
Today, I have an appointment for a second opinion - my CRS decided that I should go back to an ileostomy.
This too shall pass -- won't it?

I'm sorry, I don't really know the answer to that one.... But it sounds simply awful for you.
I really hope you get some good advice, and a plan of action today at your appointment. Please let us know how you get on!

This is very normal Sat. It will take some time for the wound to close and stop seeping. Hang in there.
