Hello all! This is my first time posting, I have however been stalking this group for the past three months. This is my first time with a fissure (actually I currently have three) and have done the usual conservative route of the fiber and stool softeners and diltiazem and baths. Yesterday I had the Botox injection so I can hopefully avoid surgery. I was wondering if anyone else who had Botox could tell me what their recovery was like? I am nervous to go to the bathroom without screaming in pain (very awkward at the work place). Did the pain go away immediately? How fast did it go away? Do you have any recommendations? Any guidance would be great! Thanks!

Right after botox, I was very sore and had trouble walking and sitting. However the intense spasms and burning was pretty much gone right away. As far as I remember it took about a week or two before I felt better than before botox.
BM's after botox wasnt as bad as expected.

Just remember. The botox will help the bloodflow to the fissure, and promote healing, but if you don't keep your BMs soft, you will most likely retear. So, please do keep those BMs soft every single day. IMHO, thats the most important thing to reach your goal!

It took a good 10 days or so for me to really feel the benefits of the Botox. I was pretty sore for the first few days, but nothing a couple of ibuprofen couldn't take care of.
As JHH says.... Soft bms are the key plenty of rest too.

Hello All! I'm not sure how I'm doing. I thought I was feeling better and trying to keep things soft, but today things are little tighter than usual. I'm not sure if its because I didn't drink as much water as usual yesterday...and I have a pestering itch that I'm hoping is a sign of healing...haven't had an itch like this before.

Thanks for the update! Do you still have spasms after a BM?

No my pain usually is just when I have a BM. I've had very loose stools the past few days and today they weren't quite as loose. The pain usually goes away a few minutes after a BM.
