Damn Antibiotics!

Postby Rachael 1984 » 25 Apr 2014, 02:48

Hi Everyone, well after a week of taking Antibiotics for a bacterial infection, I'm in Fissure hell. My stomach has been upset by the weeks course, and my BMs have varied between Bristol 4 and 6-7. My delicate bottom can't take this, and today after 2 horrible BM's I'm sore, burning and both Fissure sites are painful. I've used Nitro and some metanium. I've also been taking prebiotics just so all of my good bacteria isn't killed off! I'd got everything under control again, so I'm very annoyed at this horrible set back. Any ideas on what I can it's to calm it down? My bathroom already looks like a pharmacy! Nothing is soothing the burn! Help. After nearly 2 years of this hell, I just want to give up!!!

Oh No! That's awful. Can you take immodium? When I was a girl, I used to take Kaolin and Morphine for diarrhoea. I wonder if you can still get it!!!! I'm sure the amount of morphine was...........almost zero! It was probably the kaolin that did the trick.

The difficult thing of course is to stop up the diarrhoea without swinging the pendulum too far the other way to constipation. Can you eat bananas, eggs, yogurt, cheese?

Does aloe help your bottom? Calmoseptine? Desitin?
I'm just throwing out some ideas here.

Don't feel too bad. Once the diarrhoea is cleared up you'll be on the road to recovery again. Hang in there - everything passes. We know you are sick of it, but you've survived this far. Keep venting here. We are here for you!
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

HI, Take probiotics they put back the good bacteria in the gut and colon that the antibiotics kill off. Just make sure you take the antibiotic 2 hours apart from the probiotic.

Oh Rachael..... I'm sorry to hear that you are so raw from it all.
Maybe sudocream?? .... Any baby's bum cream really... Something with zink in?
A cotton wool ball soaked in cold water pressed to the area can bring a little relief... It's not as harsh as icing it, but it's soothing none the less.
Don't forget to blob with Vaseline before every bm to protect your raw skin.

Thankyou everyone.
The pain has persisted all day, I'm now in bed! I will try a new soothing cream as the metanium doesn't seem to do a lot. The Fissures are raw.... Why the heck didn't the CRS see them when they are like this! I am so frustrated.
I've got to try and keep calm, I got pretty stressed out today, I know it won't help, but I can't help it! Ugh. I have just taken 1.5 Movicol instead of 2. Let's see what tomorrow brings. I don't want to poo! :poostick:

I am taking the strong probiotics, so hopefully all will calm soon. Please....... :constipated:
