Yes, I'm sure you can.
A few years ago I had my toe nail and nail beds removed. It took a few weeks to heal over, but it used to ache for near on a year after... Even though it was fully healed.... Must be something to do with nerve endings and deeper tissue???

Thank you for the information. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

Hi Kap,
Yes you can for sure! but hopefully your intensity of pain should be greatly reduced if your fissure has healed over properly - however, you can still get irritation and possible spasming going on too for quite some time. You can still continue to suffer discomfort when passing stools or twinges or rectal pressure too. It takes a while for things to calm down there in such a delicate area. Always go back to your CRS if you need any additional reassurance. To be told your fissure is healed is one of the biggest boosts you can get in your recovery process :)
Chronic Fissure diagnosed December 2011
Healed by Diltiazem around Feb 2013
Anal Fistula followed burst abscess in June 2012
2 internal troublesome piles remain & suspected, but undiagnosed, ongoing Levator Ani type symptoms & flare-ups

I still had some pain for several months after healing. Still get the occasional twinge. Don't worry - it takes time, but as long as you look after yourself, eat fissure-friendly foods and drink lots of water, the pain will get less and less until hopefully it's gone for good.
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

My fissure was declared healed in late April/ early May and I still continue to be in pain. I was referred to a chronic pain specialist and she stated that my muscle are tight which is contributing to the pain... I am awaiting Botox on the pelvic floor next month... Here's to hoping that this will help relieve the fissure like pain.
