Is Itchy a good sign?

Postby sb2 » 12 Jun 2014, 08:21

Day 3 post LIS. Have painful lump at incision site and a thrombose hemorrhoid - neither of which are concerning to my CRS at this point. BMs are painful on incision side, but not at fissure site. Little or no spasming. However, starting to feel itchy all over down there and wondering if that is a sign of healing or other problems?

Itching is certainly a sign of healing but could also be a sign of something else. Are you putting any creams or anything else on it that could irritate the area. That could lead to itching. I would check with the doctor. The most important thing is that over time the pain subsides. I wish you the best.

Thanks Apes. I'm not using any creams or anything. Definitely feels different after the surgery. Almost no pain at the fissure site other than occasional dull ache and this recent itching.

I can't believe how excited I get over other peoples healing. Living through this nightmare gives one a whole new perspective. Good luck.

Day 5 post op. Feeling better about things as there continues to be just a little pain at fissure site, and reducing pain at the surgical site. Still have an external hemorrhoid and small bump where the incision was made, but the pain from both seem to be subsiding as well. I do get these odd pains at both sites that come and go. Sometimes like a needle stick pain, other times a dull ache but always several hours after bm. Anyone experience this on their road to recovery?

Hi SB2,

I had the needle stick pain after LIS and I had a couple that felt more like an ice pick. I called them stingers. Mine would last 5 seconds to 15 seconds. The frequency and pain intensity decreased over time and went away after 5 weeks. I did not always know if the stingers were from the sphincter cut, incision, fissure trim or a combination. I did get a dull a ache the first couple of weeks sometimes right after the BM.

I never used any creams or ointments per doctor, but there were times that I wanted to use something.

I'm a little late to the game here but itching was a very positive turn for me after LIS. Within a few days of all the itchiness, my pain was completely gone. I hope the same happens for you!

Thanks Roidsfizz and JBL. It helps to share with others who are going through the same stuff.
