I was prescribed proctofoam by my CRS yesterday to use twice a day. I have one posterior AF and no hemorrhoids. I used it last night and this morning. I'm not sure I like it. It stings a bit, and I really don't like the full feeling it gives or the fact I'm putting a hard plastic applicator up there. I'm trying to have faith in my doc's experience, but I've read so much conflicting info about hydrocortisone and AFs.

Advice? Experiences? Thanks!!

I believe hydrocortisone is not currently part of the normal course of treatment for a fissure. GPs still prescribe it but I don't think it's normally prescribed by a CRS so I'm surprised to hear it.

It was for pain relief, I believe. I stopped using it yesterday morning for fear of using hydrocortisone too long. I am in a little more pain today, but ibuprofen took care of it.
