Sphinterotomy

Postby Blondie » 09 Aug 2014, 19:54

Hi Everyone, I had a fissure a couple years ago and it healed with nifedipine cream. 5 months ago I developed a chronic fissure. It was very painful and did not respond to the cream or Botox injection. My Dr. Suggested surgery. I was very afraid but had the spinchterotomy. I am so glad that I did. It was painful for a week and my bowel movements were worse, but it was tolerable especially with the pain medicine they gave me. I am pain free now for the first time in 5 months. If your fissure does not respond to conservative therapy I highly recommend the surgery.

Thanks, I had botox a bit over 2 weeks ago and am feeling a little bit better. But just a little. I'm seeing my CRS Monday to discuss surgery for Thursday. I;m also getting second opinion Tuesday from a doctor who does a different procedure. (Kenalog at Columbia Presbyertian)
Anyway, it's good to hear a positive result. I's so afraid but something has to happen. I can't live like this anymore!

Blondie,

Thanks for posting your positive experience with your surgery; a lot of people try to prevent it but if that's our only option to be cured from this hell I will take it.
