Kegel exercises

Postby msimon » 16 Aug 2014, 19:12

Do any of you exercise the area to maybe bring blood flow? That is kegels, or contractions/relaxations of the pelvic floor and sphincter. Do you think these are good or bad to do? I was wondering if they might be bad as they may cause the tissue to move (not be undisturbed to heal). :thankyou:

My understanding is that kegels and reverse kegels are great things to do to strengthen the area.
This might be helpful. My mom is a nurse and she suggested I do these daily at least 40 times.

I've wondered about Kegels and orgasms. It seems like they'd be good due to increased blood flow, but bad due to the contracted muscles. I don't know...it makes me nervous.

What are reverse kegels?
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

Great link Jlm. The problem I am having now is due to a lot of botox into my pelvic floor over the years I think I am always walking around in a reverse kegel. It is very uncomfortable to say the least. Makes me think of a woman's body post delivery (never had children). For those of you that have had children does that area feel 'dead' after, like you can't even lift it?

I've had a baby and LIS. Things don't feel any different for me... basically feels the same as before the baby and the surgery. I can't hold in urine very well anymore because of the labor, though. I imagine if I did kegels that might improve but I rarely think to do them.
Developed fissure from constipation due to breastfeeding 7 weeks after delivery (Jan 2014)
Nifedepine
Colace
Magnesium
Miralax - godsend
Nitro - some improvement
LIS (May 2014) - cured for 3 months then setback
Diltiazem
Feeling better for now
