The pain

Postby Deleted User 4015 » 29 Dec 2014, 12:19

I have read some of your stories and they are worse than a nightmare.
It have hade a fissure since september 2014. It was not as bad in the beginning, but gets worse as time goes by.
I have about 14 days where the pain fades away day by day untill it reset and a new round sets in. I have tried every cream there is but it do not help.
The latest cream with GTN has helped some on the pain, i have used it for 16 days and guess what my 14 day cycle did restart last night. So here i lie down in my bed watching tv and waiting for better days

I am going to the hospital sometime in the beginning of 2015. I dont know what they are going to do but i hope they will take some action.
This is not a life to live and for me it would be better to load my rifle and get it over with.

I think you people who has hade this for years are very strong. Persons who has had this for years, how can you handle the pain for so long without doing any surgery?

I'm sorry to hear you're struggling, hurtlikehell. =( It sucks. My AF story also started back in September. It was worse for me in the first couple of months but I have not had any thing close to a pain free day! Here are some things I've been doing to help deal with the pain (and sorry for repeating some things you probably already know):

-Keep stools as soft as possible. Stool softener medications, high fiber diet/supplements, and magnesium all help with this.
-Take Ibuprofen as soon as you wake up (if you have morning BMs) or about half an hour before you think you'll have one.
-Don't wipe with toilet paper because it's irritating. Use baby wipes or simply rinse with water if that's an option.
-Soak in the tub or get a sitz bath to help relax spasms after a BM.
-Get a stool or "squatty potty". The squatting posture helps reduce straining.
-If you do find yourself starting to strain - stop! It will only make things worse. I get impatient sometimes and just want to get it over with, but I try to remind myself to take slow, deep breaths and just let it happen in its own time.
-Try the "finger support method". This means sitting up very straight on the toilet and, when you're about to pass stool, press on the area about halfway between your tailbone and your anus. This helps relieve some of the pressure from the posterior part of the anus where most fissures occur.

I hope there's something in there you find useful. Just know, you are not alone!
-Fissure since August 2014 after diarrhea and antibiotics
-Using diltiazem, baths, ibuprofen, magnesium, high fiber diet/supplements, probiotics, coconut oil, cleaning with water & wipes only
-LIS & skin tag removal scheduled for late January 2015

I think my fissure started in August of this year, and there was a time where I thought it may never heal because it kept tearing with every bowel movement. During the beginning stages, I believe my bowel movements felt like razor blades, and it had me very nervous just going to the bathroom (it had me even praying just before the bowel movements!). And when I would go a day or a few days without any blood during my bowel movements, and thought I had things figured out, the fissure would re-tear and bleed as well as sometimes burning. It wasn't until, I think, late November, where I found some members on this forum talking about using Extra-Virgin Coconut Oil on the fissures, that I consistently had non-problematic bowel movements. I would apply a lot of coconut oil just before and after my bowel movements, and again some time in between bowel movements. It's been close to a month now since I've started using the oil, and I think I'm pretty close to being completely healed since for the last week or 2, I've already been able to eat all my favorite snacks and foods without any really noticeable setbacks or problems.

Anyway, I hope things work out with you and that you get better! :)

Yes, thanks suko! Just checking, do you apply it on the inside or just the outside? I'm guessing the latter but just to be sure. Do you apply any other ointments/creams, too? Just wondering about mixing them.

I like coconut oil, but for some reason it dries really quickly if i apply it internally it dries out really quickly and by the time i pull my finger out its as if im rubbing the fissure raw - very odd. and with regards to the smell I really like it - coconut! but not too strong.

I'm having a trial of no cream usage at all as I've developed a horrible red blotchy rash all over my sacral cleft so giving my butt a break and just putting up with the pain.
Suffering since June 2013

Methods tried:
GTN cream - migraines!
Manuka Honey / Coconut oil / Aloe
tag excision X 2, botox x 3
Dilatiazem
dilatation 2 X daily + Retin-C Vitamin Scar Treatment Oil 2 X daily - best thing ever.
Now pain free 2/7/21

Glad to hear it didn't hurt! :)

As for the smell, u can definitely smell it, but I don't think I've ever read of anyone really complaining about it because it smells so good, lol.

I did want to mention, though, after every bowel movement, I've always gone into a bathtub like this

and let my butt hang out there so that I can wash the anus more thoroughly and completely (using my hands, too, to try to gently wipe everything off), removing as much of the coconut oil as possible since I feel it's been contaminated with the stool (and putting a tiny bit of mild soap on the anus area, only a tiny bit since as everyone here would say, it can dry out the anus which obviously would be a bad thing - but putting on the coconut oil or some kind of lotion or cream, I think, counters the effect of it from possibly drying out). This is just what's worked for me, though, I know it won't necessarily work for everyone else.
