How to Apply Ointment in Anus

Postby dgb » 13 Feb 2015, 21:04

I have an anal fissure and the doctor prescribed nifedipine. He said to insert a pea sized application twice daily into the anus on the anterior side, with my finger. Problem is, I don't think the ointment actually gets inserted. Seems the ointment comes off my finger as it is inserted. Has anyone tried this with success? What is the best way to insert the ointment? Thank you.

You need not apply the ointment inside. Just rub it in externally, it will be absorbed into the muscle from there.
