Postby Broncosgirl » 03 Mar 2015, 22:26

If you had LIS surgery, answer these questions to help those of us out who are unsure/curious/ questioning the procedure...

1. How long did you have your fissure before surgery

2. Did you try NGT or Diltiazem before surgery and if so how long

3. On a scale of 1-10, how painful was your recovery from surgery on the worst day(s) - 1 is not painful at all and 10 is unbearable pain

4. Did you have incontenance issues afterward to stool or gas (specify) and for how long

5. How long did it take to heal the fossure and from surgery

6. On a scale of 1-10 how satisfied with the results are you? - 1 is very unhappy and 10 is extremely satisfied. Elaborate if you wish

7. Is there anything you wish you had known before surgery that you could share?

8. Male or female... Any pregnancies or underlying conditions related to your fissures?

9. Did a CRS perform your surgery?

What a great question. I'm sure that it will help many people going forward, especially if we can get a lot of members answering.

1. At least 5 years
2. I tried Diltiazem on and off for about 2 years
3. Day 1 was level 10 on the pain scale, the next full week was about a 5, and then it dropped down to 0 by about the end of week 3.
4. Only had gas escape unbidden once, in the bath, on first day. Absolutely full control of both gas and feces after that.
5. I have had no fissure pain since the surgery.
6. I guess that I'm a 9 on the happiness scale, because while the surgery has given me back my life, I'm not thrilled to have 4 permanent skin tags that weren't there beforehand.
7. I had no idea that skin tags would just sprout because of it, but would have traded the fissure pain for the skin tags every time.
8. Female and already had children. My issues beforehand were chronic diahhrea and grade 3 internal hemmorhoids.
9. Yes
Fissure since about 2007
Fissure diagnosed in 2011
Diltiazem for two years - didn't work well
LIS January, 2015
