In tears, thought I was getting better!!

Postby Fissurefrustration » 09 Feb 2016, 11:19

oh my god what a day. didn't think anything was different from usual and felt like I was doing better generally I mean I had my scar excision and EUA 5 or 6 months ago now but today I had the BM from HELL. I knew it was going to be hard so just breathed and could feel it cutting into the tissue so I slowed my breathing and just tried to relax but it had the awful plug effect and as it came through I felt the tear of all my new tissue between 11 - 3 position. managed to last throughout the day and got home to have a sitz bath but I'm in agony on a bottle now in tears. How long does it take for scar tissue up there to heal!? surely not 6 months
Suffering since June 2013

Methods tried:
GTN cream - migraines!
Manuka Honey / Coconut oil / Aloe
tag excision X 2, botox x 3
Dilatiazem
dilatation 2 X daily + Retin-C Vitamin Scar Treatment Oil 2 X daily - best thing ever.
Now pain free 2/7/21

Oh no, I really feel for you and wanted to send you lots of love x I forget but have you had LIS or not? Have you got an appointment with your consultant to discuss options as it seems you have been dealing with this for a long time. It is so hard being in chronic pain and I wonder if your gp could give you something to help the pain and give you a break... I really hope you feel better soon x

Ff -- so sorry to hear about today, that is really not fair!!

I have continued to take a small dose of Miralax daily in an effort to avoid the plug effect. My notion is that I will take it for a full 12 months of no pain/blood before i even think of stopping...i also use a bit of metamucil each day to keep things moving well....perhaps some combo would work for you.

Sending you a virtual hug buddy....hopefully the acute pain will be over in a day or so and you can focus on healing.

Hi guys,

thanks so much for the support... in such a bad way right now. Had a bm this morning that felt like all the scar tissue had paper cuts inside. No blood on wiping but when I was passing the motion it just felt like the worst scraping pain at the top. wahhhhhhhhhh :(

I have struggled with this for 4 years. I take a small amount of milk of magnesia every day with medical approval.

If you didn't have blood the first time, it doesn't necessarily mean a rip. I was also in a similar situation about a month ago. After a case of diarrhea i had the hard stool aftermath and come close to bursting in tears due to the pain and ripping thoughts while passing the hardest stool after this thing happened to me. Lost faith immediately etc etc, then after a week of struggling and gulping huge amounts of mineral oil and macrogols i was back to normal and actually even better.
Actually now that i think of it, every time i have a plug and hard stool pain afterwards, i somehow proceed with healing. Then again maybe its due to being more careful and using GTN again... Not sure, still trying to figure it out, but i have seen some other members claiming the same.

Pain has eased definitely from that setback. Had some really bad days at work since as my brain has been so occupied. Had a bm at work last night that wasn't as sore but with an increase in stress a few hours on the pain came back. I need to learn to relax!!

I think we need to be careful not to have supersized BM's for the rest of our lifes.
It's been more than 3 years ago I got my fissure, and Im still taking meassures to keep my BM's soft. Never again!
- Fissure developed in Jan '13
- Started rectogesic in Feb '13 and diltiazem Apr '13.
- Got botox Jun '13
- Healed by Okt '13, although I still had some irritation for about a year.
- New fissure April '22, healed June 2022
- New fissure 24. December 2023
