Op in two weeks

Postby Bottyburn » 22 Feb 2016, 17:23

Hi,

A few months ago I experienced excruciating pain around the back passage - so bad that an ambulance was called. Eventually & after pain relief this acute stage subsided. The doc referred me to a specialist who has recommended that I have surgery followed by a sigmoidoscopy (just in case).

The gross bit - I have puss, clear fluid and sometimes blood coming out of what I guess is a fistula opening and my back passage too. Yes the thought of a general and someone poking around there isn't my idea of a good time but the leakage has reached the point of invading my enjoyment of life.

I'll let you know what is found and my progress after the surgery.

Pre op assessment done. Should be in and out in a day with a week off work to recouperate. Not sure how realistic that is, several people on here seem to have taken longer - I guess all cases are different and, as the doc said, this starts as a reconnaissance mission until they know what they're dealing with.
