Tips for smooth, watery bowel movement?

Postby fieldingmellish » 17 May 2016, 16:12

Hey all,
So I have a chronic fissure that has gotten marginally better in the last 6 weeks since I went to the doc.
Trying to avoid surgery.
Using diltiazem and just ordered the Forces of Nature stuff yesterday.
Obviously, one of the issues I have are hard BM's.
I take fiber supplements, probiotics, eat bran flakes every day, and occasionally take Miralax but I'm wondering if anyone else has any suggestions for smooth bowel movements?Miralax more often?

Most who want to ensure a smooth BM take miralax daily...seems to do the trick for many. Otherwise sounds like you are doing all the right things...in addition to supplements etc make sure you eat well all day long and not just at one meal...a bowl of bran flakes can be undone by a couple slices of pizza at night!

All best - CB.

Thanks...I guess I just am trying to wrap my head around the idea of having to take Miralax every day for the rest of my life

I am not sure that would be the case -- perhaps you take it for a number of months and wean off...you may want to consult your GP or CRS on long term usage for you....personally I have been taking it long term and I have found it really helpful...do i wish that i didnt have to...yes...but the positives outweigh the negative for me.

No - I take a quarter dose each day and split that up half in the morning and half in evening.

I have same issue with BM, one day soft poo and next day a bit hard but not all, first one. I take magnesium citrate 160 cab 3 times a day, Miralax full spoon before bed, olive oil in before dinner, a cup of warm water with table spoon of honey, 3 to 4l water for whole day, fruits, not sure what is wrong with my digestion :-( this morning as well, with flesh blood in morning bm :-( sometime really wanted to cry out.
Should I have extra stool softener to get soft poo, thanks.

If your anus can handle it, maybe you could try a water enema? I've been experimenting with this the last few days, and it seems to be working fairly ok. You just need an enema bottle like this: Image
and then fill it with 1/2-1 dl of water. Make sure to use lots of vaseline or similar on the tip before you insert it gently. Then squeeze slowly until the water has moved from the bottle into your anus, and keep squeezing the bottle as you pull it out (otherwise the underpressure in the bottle may suck the water back). Try to hold it in for a minute or two, and then go to the toilet. Usually this makes the stool softer and it also gets easier to clean up afterwards too.
