Chronic anal fissure.

Postby Yemzo » 01 Sep 2016, 06:17

Hi all. This is my first post..... I have scrolled tbrought these pages and posts on a daily basis for over 6 months now looking for advice and tips....
I have just had my first botox injection and hemorrhoid banding 1 week ago and I am in such pain I need some advice from anyone pleassee? !
I have suffered in pain for whichim feels like an eternity. And was so positive when I thought that my procedure would help me. But now I am worse than ever. I am still needing to have bed rest as I can't stand for more than 10 mins at a time. I have 2 children and haven't been able to do anything with them for some long now. I can't even make it out to do shopping. On a bad day I can't stand long enough to clean my teeth.
Does anyone have any advice?
How long should will it take for the pain to improve?
I have a high pain threshold and I would rather give birth than have this pain.
Any advice, tips or words of support would be amazing and I am feeling desperate now.

Oh Yemzo, I feel for you that you are in this much pain! I don't think it's average to feel this extent of pain 1 week out. However I have not had the botox or banding and perhaps someone on here can provide more reflection on this time period.
Have you spoken to your doctor about pain measures suited to your needs?
On just a glance my first suggestions until you have spoken further to your doctor is working out a way to find a balance between bed rest and unbearable pain after standing.
Are you able to shift and change positions more frequently in bed? Trying to reduce the pressure on that area allowing for more blood flow?
Maybe a pillow or two under your hips when you are in bed to again reduce the pressure but keep you comfortable?
Everyone is different in what they find comforting -- for some a bath, heating pad or even ice.

If I think of anything else I'll post. I'm just so sorry you are in such pain!
Definitely let the nurse or doctor know because some amount of pain is expected, but unbearable or continuous pain that interferes with activities of daily living should be and can be managed I would think.
Sending you huge hugs!

Any hemorrhoid surgery is very painful, and all I can say is that it will eventually improve. I have had two hemorrhoid surgeries so know of what I speak. Are you using a sitz bath over the toilet seat to soak in and to help the area relax. I know that hem pain is far worse than giving birth...and no darling baby afterwards.

Read up anything on here about the surgery (use the search that is situated between FAQ and Portal as there you can search by topic). Make sure that you don't get constipated, and the sitz bath helps with that too. Are you taking Tylenol or something similar for the pain?

Feel free to come back and rant. We know what a lousy time it is, but hopefully you'll soon see the other side of it and life will get back to normal. :smilyhug:

I had Botox with fissurotomy and must say the first 5 days were very painful but not to that extent I could move about the house just not outside for the first week. I have quite large internal and external hems...and felt most of the soreness was coming from them. Maybe the pain is from the banding and hopefully when the Botox kicks in that pain will subside, it can take two weeks for the Botox to actually fully kick in. If you are worried you can always phone your CRS and see what they say.

Thanks for the replies. I have been doing the sitz baths but only taking paracetamol for pain. I was told to use paracetamol and ibuprofen only ( based in uk) but the ibuprofen gave me indigestion and a very bloated stomach.
I have had a chat with a nurse specialist who has advised me the following. .....
To use a footstool when having a BM as it's a more natural position and not to even slightly push even if I think I haven't fully emptied my bowel.
She also said that because of the banding it will be more painful until they finally shrink and fall off ( expected to take 7-10 days post op). She believes that I will feel a huge difference when this happens.
She has advised me to increase my laxido to 1 sachet morning and evening and half a sachet afternoon. So I am extremely loose.
She could look at my notes to tell me exactly where my tear was and where the banding had taken place. 4 in total.
I really appreciate people reading and replying as it just makes this whole thing seem easier. Thank you. :thanx:
