ibuprofen for pain?

Postby tightybehind » 06 Dec 2016, 12:15

Semi-new here. Dealt with a painful fissure with spasms a couple years back. . . was managing it okay the last few years with some bleeding on and off, but nothing too bad. Then bam, tore again pretty bad a couple weeks ago (around November 15th or so), and in pain since then.

Dealing with long fissure, then thrombosed external hemorrhoid which went away, but back again after this morning's BM. Stayed home from work in the hopes I can nip this in the bud. Have an appointment with a CRS "nurse specialist" January 6th because CRS wasn't available until February.

In the meantime, can a general practitioner prescribe nitro? Is Advil okay for the pain? Thought I read somewhere an anti-inflammatory should be avoided.

I can deal with the fissure with stool softeners, fiber and liberal use of ointments, but what about the thrombosed hemmie?

Hi tighty,
Sorry to hear your suffering again...
Ibuprofen is great if you can take it I can't so I rub the gel on my butt cheeks as CRS says some gets absorbed that way lol.
A GP can prescribe nitro and are more likely too if you have had it before at least in the UK.
As for your hems mine were huge like plum size the other day and I have been soaking cotton wool balls in colodial silver and leaving it on the hems for 20 mins. Before I got my fissure I would use apple cider vinegar and that got rid of the swelling in like 48 hours but no way am I putting that near a fissure....let me know if you try it if it doesn't sting too much I will use it again lol....the silver takes the swelling down slower but after about 3/4 days they were back to there normal marble size.

Mypoor, still had the fissure so didn't try ACV on the hems. Will try if they come back on their own but too scared to put ACV near tear. Any luck on your end?

Hi tighty,
Yes i agree I wouldn't risk it near a fissure.
I'm doing a bit better thanx was a really rough few weeks after the LIS but with medication to help my bowel I'm going to the toilet less so my pain is a lot less thankfully.
How are you doing?

Glad you're doing better. My fissure is slowly healing and once had two days of blood free BM's. However I must have strained this morning as my external hemorrhoid starting hurting after BM and I've been in pain all day. After some research, realized it's not thrombosed, but external and still painful, but guess it could be worse. I tried icing in afternoon, which helped some. Bought some desitin (zinc oxide), and I think that's also helping. Really trying to be conscious about water consumption today and very conscious about not straining tomorrow morning.
