Postby Jamesscott96 » 16 Feb 2017, 13:32

i have been waiting 6 months for surgery, the doctors have given me little help with pain relief :( offered me only paracetemol.. it does nothing as expected same for ibuprofen

i take gabepentin it helps a little but im still waiting for surgery and everyday is unbearable either dull ache or shooting pains before bm then spasms for hours and then back to a strong dull ache , it also hurts it when i cough ?

i took ketamine which is illegal but somedays it feels like i just want to die because i cant live a normal life

when im in public it hurts alot because i have anxiety to , so im sat indoors most days if i walk to far it feels like my hairs are razor blades stabbing my a hole

anyone had these similar feelings ? also drug advices ??? i dont want ketamine lol i like the numb feeling as i can do what i want but i hate the high.

i just want to feel outa pain

Hi James, While waiting for surgery have your been offered diltiazem or GTN? That may help with the pain. One thing I am experimenting with is ibuprofen gel, but I would advise caution as the label clearly says not to apply it to the anus. That said I tried a small dab today and it has seems to have helped a little. I'm trying to find out what the reason is you shouldn't apply it directly. If anyone knows I would be grateful for the feedback. It's normally used for applying to the skin for joint or backache problems and is also anti-inflammatory. Someone here said they applied it to the bum cheeks and that helped...

What surgery are you waiting for?

To answer my own question (at least partly), it seems ibuprofen reduces the ability to clot blood. So in the case of a fissure will act against any healing. In fact any NSAIDs will do this which is worth noting. Personally I'm going to try it for a few days anyhow. I'll let you know how I get on :-) Maybe there is a paracetamol gel out there...

You mentioned ketamine - turns out you may be able to get this as a topical pain killer?

Just a quick update to this. I have found that Zapain has helped recently. Might be worth a try.

Zapain requires a prescription. Correct?

I see that you're in Canada, like me. Zapain here, is called Tylenol 3, and yes, it requires a prescription.

Yes Zapain does need a prescription in the UK too. It's helped me get through those occasions where I'm going to be sitting down for a while in an uncomfortable position. My own personal plight is not so much spasms, but the ongoing pain from a chronic fissure that has probably become an open sore. For that sort of pain it works well, but I'm trying to avoid taking it more than absolutely necessary.

Yes I understand that pain, sometimes we need something stronger. I've found relief with Tramadol in the past when the pain was too much.
