Do surgeons administer Botox?

Postby patience_and_healing » 06 Mar 2017, 20:52

I spoke to a general surgeon's nurse today about my future treatment options and she recommended a physician assistant who does Botox injections for patients with anal fissures, and also is a good educator on the topic. This struck me as somewhat odd. Wouldn't a person with greater experience than a PA be required to administer Botox in such a complicated area? Any insights on this are appreciated!
8/16-12/16: Fissure due to antibiotics
5/17: Botox to sphincter, fissure healed
9/19: Trigger point injections and pudendal nerve block
11/19: Botox to pelvic floor
8/20: Botox to pelvic floor in new location.
On and off in pelvic physical therapy

I, personally, would not allow a PS to administer botox.
Fissure since about 2007
Fissure diagnosed in 2011
Diltiazem for two years - didn't work well
LIS January, 2015
Hemorrhoidectomy December, 2017
