Hi All. Never new there was a site like this but I am glad there is.
My story: I went to my GP because of an external thrombosed hemorrhoid. He told me it would go away on it's own in a few weeks. I am 58 in a week so I asked him to set up a Colonoscopy exam. When I saw that specialist he recommended lancing the thrombosed hemorrhoid. He told me the freezing would feel like a mosquito bite and I would have instant relief after the procedure. I took his advice and that afternoon I went to the hospital clinic and had the procedure.
I don't know where he is from but the mosquito bite freezing was more like a gun shot. I was screaming it hurt so much. He asked if he should stop but at that point I was already frozen so he finished the procedure. It is 2 weeks later and I have been in constant pain since the freezing wore off. I am self employed and haven't been able to go to work for 2 weeks. So much for instant relief. I have always had easy regular bowel movements. Since the procedure I have to force myself after 2 or 3 days and it is very painful with a lot of pushing. I was prescribed Tylenol 3 and Metamucil and a sitz bath but neither seems to help much. I can hardly touch the area where the hemorrhoid was and now have a very painful skin tag at the back of my anus.
After a week of pain I went back to see him. He checked me out and said everything looks like it is healing fine. He didn't seem concerned and couldn't explain why I am in so much discomfort other than saying I must be more sensitive in that area than most people. He prescribed a liquid stool softener and Ditiazem 2% Petrolatum which was very hard to get. It's been 3 days on that stuff but I am still constipated and sore.
I am wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience and am I worrying too much? I am scheduled for the colonoscopy check in a couple of weeks but I am afraid to have that if I am still as sore as I am now. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. Needless to say I wish I had listened to my GP instead of the specialist.
Thank you
