Good day
Do you think that sitting in hot water mixed with epsom salt help the healing process after a seton stitch surgery?
Thanks

I have had a seton for about three months. I used epsom salts in a sitz bath initially for a few days after surgery. I don't think the epsom salts make much difference. The hot water will aid healing though and I now just use water and a little soap and also spray down there when I'm in the shower. Keeping the area clean, especially after bowel movements, is the key thing.

I also wrap a bit of cotton or tissue around the seton to stop it from chafing during the day.

Lafeu: A fistula, my lord. Bertram: I heard not of it before.
Lafeu: I would it were not notorious.

Thanks for the feedback
I am not sure if using water with soap in the bath is advisable.
Do you get any discharge or small abcesses near the stetch?

I haven't had any other abscesses. I worried I might due to occasional soreness however none materialized.

I actually had the seton removed under GA yesterday. 12 weeks to the day since it was put in. Hopefully the healing goes well. Good luck and hope your recovery is swift.

And yes, I did have discharge - every day a small amount. That's what the draining seton does so it's a normal sign.
