A funny thing

Postby small_flower » 29 Mar 2008, 06:59

I was sitting in my class yesterday morning, minding my own business, and one of my classmates comes in and starts talking about fissures. Well, this immediately caught my attention. He started laughing about anal fissures and how funny it was and my other classmates seemed confused. It just made me a bit mad that someone would make fun of a condition like ours. I guess it just goes to show, we still can't be open about our condition (at least with people my age). Shame, isn't it?

i would have pulled his pants down and gave him a fissure and asked him to come back next week and see if his experience was funny!
do you know why/how this person started talking about fissures? perhaps he is a closeted fissure sufferer.......

does anyone watch "the office" in america? it's a hilarious show, but i distinctly remember one episode about health care where they mentioned anal fissures. they totally made a joke of it without explaining what it was. i saw it before i knew that my anal pain was from a fissure. it's really sad, but people definitely make fun of this problem. i guess if you can step back from your own pain for awhile it kind of is funny. sometimes when things are so bad, i can't help but laugh at the absurdity of it all.

Aah. I think the world truly takes their butts for granted. I'm sometimes jealous of my siblings (not sometimes, always) when they get to eat cereal with real milk, and chow down on chips and salsa and eat 6 pizza slices without worrying about the morning after :p. & it's even worse when people make fun of it. They did used to make fun of me too, until they realized how much pain I was in and how hard it was for me. Although I don't have much constipation anymore, I used to be constipated all the time, everyday, and I'd be in the washroom for at least 20 minutes at a time... Sometimes my sister would sit outside sort of laughing at me or cracking jokes about how I'm on the toilet for so long... Even though she was just a kid, it really hurt me in the long run and made me feel so abnormal... The only person who I could speak to that understood was my grandmom, who also has (and continues to have chronic constipation).
It's sad that people don't understand how much bum problems can restrict you... But at the end of the day, it keeps us humble and it makes me feel thankful for everything I do have.. I hope those people learn, eventually!

I saw that episode of the office too. It really is an odd afflliction and one that no one wants to talk about. Its sad really because so many people are suffering and lacking support. People sympathize when they hear someone threw out his/her back, but they look disgusted when they hear that someone busted their butt. I, personally, have become resigned to having old man a$$ for at least another year or so, perhaps the rest of my life.

I told about my butt to everybody LOL - my gardener, my hairstylist
(do I need to say that everybody in the shop stopped talking to ears-drop on my "report" ha ha ha), to my lawyer (he confessed he has them too), my neighbors (jaws dropped), my ex-real estate agents (were very supportive - called more often than my friends - wonder why ???, maybe they felt bad for selling me this house for that price???), and of course all my family and friends AND I must say that nobody laughed - to the contrary, all almost fainted of disbelief that something like that can happen and were terrified of getting it themselves. But, all that sympathy did not make difference in my pain and suffering : ((( - at the end of the day it is us and our butts alone in the bathroom clenching our teeth and our fists and muffling our cries : (((...

To cope I started coming up with funny, alliterative ways of talking about it with my family
I broke my butt
burst my butt
tore my rear
ripped my rear
popped my pooper
tortured my tuckus
etc...

Chris, you could say you're a split-tail!
You might have to be from the Southern US to get that one!
